Today, I am proud to introduce the Nigeria Religious Freedom and Accountability Act of 2026 with Rep. Chris Smith.
The U.S. is a Christian nation. As such, we must stand with persecuted Christians around the world.
Our legislation will build upon the momentum of President Trump designating Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern and the recent US-Nigeria security framework agreement.

“It's Fulani terrorists, the militia from the Fulani people that are going around killing and massacring, burning and kidnapping people, we need to deal with them... The Nigerian government is not doing anything to stop them; they are trying to cover it up." - Alex Barbir
I introduced the Nigeria Religious Freedom and Accountability Act of 2026 with Rep. Chris Smith to confront the brutal persecution of Christians in Nigeria.
This legislation will hold radical Islamic terrorists accountable for murdering Christians for their faith in Jesus Christ.
I will never stop fighting for our persecuted brothers and sisters.
Thank you @POTUS for your incredible leadership by designating Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern.
You have always been a champion for Christians around the world, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to work with you and Chairman Cole @houseappropsgop to defend our brothers and sisters in Christ who are being slaughtered by radical Islamists in Nigeria.
If there were any remaining doubts that Christians in Nigeria are being targeted for their faith in Jesus Christ, this should end that debate.
This isn’t about land usage, “climate change,” or any other argument the Left wants to make. This is persecution of our brothers and sisters for their faith in Christ, plain and simple.
ISIS is telling Christians they have an opportunity to "spare their blood" if they convert. Our brothers and sisters will not bend the knee to anyone but our Lord and Savior though.
Thankfully, @POTUS is continuing to work in cooperation with the Nigerian government to stop these Islamic radicals and defend our brothers and sisters in Christ.
@ShehuSani And how is that your problem? Oh it means you're included. After all people like you have made it so the less privileged can't travel so now you are all going to remain in that country. Hahha
@RepRileyMoore Sorry sir, my faith is deflated. Nigerian please continue seeking God because the sponsors are still safe and the terrorist are still in business
