I think I speak for everyone when I say that Megan deserves all the love and support in the world. Seeing her body language as she struggled to speak about specifics genuinely hurt me inside, as someone with very similar trauma responses.

There’s a difference between someone speaking to a camera with a blank face and no remorse (and caring more about defending her hair color than showing any sort of real empathy) vs. someone struggling to speak through tears, being visibly distressed, and having to relive their own trauma on camera.

Trauma is awful. It’s not just “oh, I don’t like to talk about this because it hurts me”; it’s more like “speaking or hearing of this traumatic event makes my brain think that I am reliving said event, puts me in fight or flight mode, and I am having to relive it even though I am physically safe”.

It breaks my heart to see Megan having to relive something so horrific over and over again while the perpetrators get to live their lives peacefully and seemingly without any guilt. It’s not fair. Waking up every day and knowing that the people who genuinely ruined your entire life—especially on days where you know they’re with YOUR child—would destroy anyone. That takes some of the most strength imaginable.
