Rents in Alberta are rising faster than any other province.
Calgary's February rental rates saw an annual increase of 9.7% for a one-bedroom apartment.
We need to build more homes, and we need better protections for tenants.

Looks like Calgary, a city I used to plan for, is about to have one of those defining moments where they either back up their declaration of a #ClimateEmergency, or they don’t.
The truth is always in the details.
Keep the 3rd Ave bike-lane @CityOfCalgary@JyotiGondek. #Calgary
If you followed me during the pandemic it was likely because I didn’t shy away from uncomfortable truths. Climate will effect health far more profoundly than Covid ever did. The old ways got us here. We must change or be changed.
TC Energy is laying off 1,500 Alberta employees.
Suncore is laying off 1,500 Alberta employees.
Both companies announced their decision to can Alberta workers days after election and corporate tax cut promise.
That’s how friends help friends.

Much warranted criticism.
The removal of red tape proposed in the recommendations (e.g., blanket RCG rezone & removal of parking minimums) are free market principles that should be supported by "conservatives" on council but they are NOT.
Remove the gatekeepers indeed. #yyccc
I haven't figured out how to articulate my anger and frustration.
But I can say this, Council failed Calgarians today. I feel it. It hurts.
I'm sorry #yyc#yyccc#ableg#abpoli
@tomaspueyo ‘The Dawn of Everything’ touches indirectly. Notes that N Am’s First Nations felt better off and didn’t get the relationship b/w wealth and power of Europe. Suggests to me correlation rather than causation, and cultural vs innate. But also systemically entrenched.
EXCLUSIVE: Take Back Alberta leaders are training “scrutineers” to infiltrate campaigns and act as “security” on voting day.
We went inside a group that is training its supporters to dispute votes and sow doubts about Alberta’s upcoming election.

@DavidColetto I would much prefer to call them “swing voters”. The narrative that everyone in Alberta is a conservative supporter is simply untrue. It’s time to update the script.
Today I’m announcing a $1.2 billion capital plan to build new hospitals, schools, transit lines, and major infrastructure projects in Calgary.
We will build a better future for Calgary.

This image from today's IPCC synthesis report is brutal. The existing policy trajectory represents a profound failure of our governments, and of our international political system. We need much more aggressive mitigation and much stronger international cooperation.
This amazing figure from yesterday's #IPCC report shows the potential of different approaches to mitigate climate change
It exposes two common misconceptions about 'natural climate solutions'
