Today, President Catherine Connolly joined over 160 personnel of Óglaigh na hÉireann to commemorate the anniversary of the 1916 Easter Rising.
Captain Eva Houlihan read the Proclamation of the Republic on the steps of the General Post Office, marking 110 years since Pádraig Pearse first delivered it at that historic location.
She was joined by Representative Elements from each service and formation, the Cadet School Honour Guard, a Tri Service Captain’s Guard of Honour, the Defence Forces Band and Pipe Band. 2 Cavalry Squadron provided an Escort of Honour for the President.
The ceremony concluded with an Air Corps flyover.

I always say it… the Amgen Irish Open is one of the best tournaments in the world. The venue, the sponsor and the crowds put on an amazing show this week. And as for Rory…. Unreal stuff on 18 yesterday. The kids standing around that green will remember that roar for a long time. Exciting few weeks ahead for me now. Onwards and upwards ☘️
To win my National Open in front of these fans was absolutely incredible. I love coming home, I love playing in this atmosphere and I’ll never take it for granted. Forever grateful for the support.
