Just charge to the mileage that you need. If you know you only need 200km, just charge accordingly to save time
You can always fill up at home
@VukaKhondlo @PapiMabele That will only be an issue 15–20 yrs time, by which time the battery may have lost some of its original capacity
The car itself would also be quite old, so replacing the battery might no longer make economic sense
That still preferable compared to replacing a complex ICE engine
@EdS_888 @PapiMabele It’s is even cheaper to charge the vehicle at home overnight. You would spend approximately half as much compared with public charging.
Charging from 20% to 100% adds roughly 50 kWh. At an average home electricity rate of R3.20/kWh, the estimated cost would be:
50×R3.20 = R160

The BYD plug in hybrid technology that BYD terms DM-i is a different & uncommon PHEV configuration that actually primarily use the ICE engine as a generator unlike most PHEVs

@pmcafrica A little bit higher than we anticipated but the inclusions of wall charger, roll bar and tow bar cushions the price a bit. We would have also appreciated a rolller shutter to be included in that price
Still better specced than the Wildtrak and even quicker than the Raptor
While other manufacturers are tardy in introducing their products into the SA market, BYD has been here, and they’re getting out attention. Deservedly so …
