Welcome to EV Solutions South Africa 🇿🇦!
This is the platform where advise, guidance and solutions will be provided with regards to adaptation of Electric Vehicles in SA.
EVs are inevitable! Let’s be part of this important technological transition in modern transportation.
@Mapholobzz @EdS_888 @PapiMabele You don’t have to charge your car to 100% if you’re in a rush
Just charge to the mileage that you need. If you know you only need 200km, just charge accordingly to save time
You can always fill up at home
@VukaKhondlo @PapiMabele That will only be an issue 15–20 yrs time, by which time the battery may have lost some of its original capacity
The car itself would also be quite old, so replacing the battery might no longer make economic sense
That still preferable compared to replacing a complex ICE engine
@EdS_888 @PapiMabele It’s is even cheaper to charge the vehicle at home overnight. You would spend approximately half as much compared with public charging.
Charging from 20% to 100% adds roughly 50 kWh. At an average home electricity rate of R3.20/kWh, the estimated cost would be:
50×R3.20 = R160

@PapiMabele Papzen, our masses still have a lot to learn about NEVs
I like that you touch a bit on the PHEV tech in your reviews, keep it up
People must understand that this is not just another Chinese bakkie dumps on our shores … it’s a motoring revolution, and a leap into the future
@Mothematiks It’s a Ford Raptor beating PHEV bakkie
First of its kind in the county
Can be used as backup during loadshedding & will power your house for 2 days
Drives like a spaceship
Faster than a GTi
85km electric range
All of that for less than 2 litres/100km in fuel consumption
The Premium variant features a 1.5-liter turbocharged hybrid engine paired with BYD's Blade Battery offering both performance and efficiency.
The BYD plug in hybrid technology that BYD terms DM-i is a different & uncommon PHEV configuration that actually primarily use the ICE engine as a generator unlike most PHEVs
BYD PHEVs prioritise electrical propulsion and only introduced ICE only at efficient and optimal level
The Comfort and Dynamic models are equipped with an 18.3 kWh battery pack enabling an electric-only driving range of approximately 80 to 100km. When combining the electric motor with the internal combustion engine, the Sealion 6 offers a total range exceeding1,000 kilometers.
@pmcafrica A little bit higher than we anticipated but the inclusions of wall charger, roll bar and tow bar cushions the price a bit. We would have also appreciated a rolller shutter to be included in that price
Still better specced than the Wildtrak and even quicker than the Raptor
While other manufacturers are tardy in introducing their products into the SA market, BYD has been here, and they’re getting out attention. Deservedly so …
Here’s the Sealiom 6/7 and the Shark 6
More in those later …
@CarsSouthAfrica @BydSouthAfrica We’re in for a shakeup in the EV and bakkie market.
South Africa should understand that this is not just a conventional hybrid that we’re used to
It’s a revolutionary Bakkie NEV and represents the future of motoring
Let’s brace ourselves

@CarsSouthAfrica This is good staff from GWM
The car is lovely
Pricing confirmed! The new GWM ORA is SA’s cheapest EV, with a new starting price of under R700 000, significantly undercutting its main rival, the Mini Cooper SE. Pricing and specs here: https://t.co/vkNOJYolze
Of course this beast was also there at #FestivalofMotoring
Been around for more than 2 years and clearly the South Africans have fallen in love with it it despite the hefty price of around R2.5 Million
The Taycan is a beauty …
What do we have here …
This little puncher has been with us for the past 3 or so years
It’s really gone unnoticed mainly because of its rather underwhelming range of only about 200 km. It was the cheapest EV before the Ora popped in
The Mini SE …
For R3.5 Million you can have yourself this accomplished PHEV from BMW …
It’s the ultimate PHEV that offers luxury and performance
You could give add a small contribution in averting climate change by driving this machine for a 100 km on pure EV power
On the premium side BMW also came to the party with the i versions …
Really beautiful machines …
Got R1.4million burning in your pocket?
