We'll only be in school for 3 weeks after Thanksgiving Break before we go out for our Winter Break. Therefore, my library media assistant and I decided to go ahead and get out our Winter Holiday books and display. Our students love checking out our Winter Holiday books! #FRIT7734
We are ready for November! Since November is Picture Book Month and the month with Thanksgiving, we read Gus, the Pilgrim Turkey with our Pre-Kindergarten through 2nd grade students. We got up our Gobble Up A Good Book display and displayed our Thanksgiving books. #FRIT7734
This week we continued with our digital citizenship lessons. Our 3rd-5th grade students played jeopardy and our PreK-2nd grade students watched some videos from creative commons. All of the students signed a pledge to be a good digital citizen. #FRIT7734
We taught our 2nd grade Fiction vs, Nonfiction reading collaboration unit this week. Students learned through playing games, doing activities, listening to books, and PowerPoint lecture. Teaching in different forums helped the students enjoy themselves as they learned. #FRIT7734
This week I am reading the book Mango, Abuela and Me for Hispanic Heritage month to my pre-K and K students, teaching the younger students (1st-2nd) the 5-finger rule for choosing books, and the older students (3rd-5th) how to use Destiny Discover to search for books. #FRIT7734
Today we got the results from our book blast event. We raised $15,500! Every student gets at least one book. Students with contributions get more. 1,279 books will be going home with students for their home libraries! The LMC is getting 10 books for each grade level! #FRIT7734
A few days late, but we finally got our Hispanic Heritage Month display up. The kids have really enjoyed looking at the display as they walk by the library media center. I'm excited for our parents to see the display when they are here for the Hispanic Heritage Potluck. #FRIT7734
We are getting ready for International Dot Day by doing some fun activities in the library media center this week! I can't wait to see all of the teachers and students wearing their dots this Friday to celebrate creativity, courage & collaboration! #Frit7734
Student orientation started this week! We're so excited to have our students enjoying the books that they are checking out! Also, we're wrapping up our Books R Fun Book Blast which is a program that gives everyone in our school at least one book for their home library! #FRIT7734
I've been getting some new books processed so they are ready for students to enjoy them! These books were chosen to increase nonfiction checkout with high interest books. Some of the subjects are robots, horses, cars, soccer, football and more! #FRIT7734
I enjoyed observing in a middle school's library media center yesterday.π« It was fun to see my previous students and see how middle school libraries are similar and different from those in elementary schools. π#FRIT7734
