Joy o joy @IpswichGov levying parking fines on motorists on single yellows in Maybush Lane, Felixstowe on our first Sunday lockdown visit in 12 weeks, on a road we always park on, sign having been turned the wrong way round. @MarkGlennMurphy thoughts!#suckingthelifeblood
@easylec@IpswichGov@MarkGlennMurphy Thanks. The sign near my car was definitely the wrong way round, but others tell me there are 3 others- which I did not see. Best to pay up I think frustratingly @EastSuffolk
@ProperDemocrat@IpswichGov@MarkGlennMurphy The parking warden admitted these signs had been turned around by contractors facing the wall so wholly invisible! How then are we meant to know?
@ProperDemocrat@IpswichGov@MarkGlennMurphy No one dangerously parking. Just parking where everyone does normally- whats different now seems to be Suffolk Coastal taking over responsibility for parking last bank holiday from the police
@MarkGlennMurphy@IpswichGov Mark, will do next time thx. “Ministers of fun prevention” seem to be quite actively discouraging of people enjoying themselves
@KrystalVittles@IpswichGov@MarkGlennMurphy Krystal, yes realised I had the wrong Council. Appreciate there are plenty of car parks but roadside parking has always been allowed here so why now
Just realised, my tweet on the unreasonable parking enforcement today at Felixstowe was not @IpswichGov but should have been directed @EastSuffolk. How to stop people having fun, public sector doing what it does best.
This is because we are still in Phase1- Phase 2 is when the pain starts. While employers are clearly worried about their future amidst furlough decisions, it’s the emoloyers, the vast majority of whom are not rich who are carrying the pain and weight.
This explains a lot. The lockdown will make almost everyone worse off. Jobs will go, taxes will rise, inflation will destroy savings. But, as of now, only 26 per cent think it has had a negative impact on their income. I’m afraid the rest are in for a nasty shock.
Not around today - but we’ll know officially soon if Hancock has met his target or not - those involved have been confident in last couple of days that they would do it - daily briefing will reveal at 5pm on @BBCNews if they have hit 100k corona tests or not
Happy May Day everyone. Sad It’s not happening in Padstow this year, meanwhile @petemurt Head Chef @TheSeafood proudly emerging at 11am from The Golden Lion with the Old ‘Oss In happier times
Thank you to @dariusglaws for finding this rather unflattering photo of me when I first stood to be Colchester's MP in 2010! 🙄 Although I came second in 2010 by nearly 7k votes, 5 years later in 2015 I won the seat by over 5k votes and am now 5 stone lighter. #winning#allthe5s
