COVID-19 turned city streets into pop-up restaurants. What if we didn’t go back? 🤔
@ewawestermark of @citiesforpeople asks why we accept being crowded out by cars on city streets. Ewa's colleague, @BlaineMerker, says we need to build cities around human connection.
Very happy to share our thoughts on how we can REDUCE exposure to air pollution and INVITE people to places with better air quality - focusing on our most important people - small children!
Packed house - w/ baby! - at our event last night re: data & design to tackle #airpollution w/ the City of Copenhagen, @citiesforpeople, Google, @cleanairfund, Novo Nordisk & U Utrecht. *Thank you* Malene, Rasmus & team @cphsolutionslab for pulling this together! #TheFutureWeWant
Out celebrating #Copenhagen's new pedestrian and bicycling bridge today via @BLOXHUBdk! We’re thrilled to see the contribution our Public Space Strategy has had, providing the basis for more connections across the water. A people-first @koebenhavner @Realdaniadk #citiesforpeople
This is our first ever Hymn Book for Connections in Public Spaces! Watch @ewawestermark on how public space changes our behaviour, enables interaction and connects us as humans. All credit to @deepcutsindeed for an inspiring event #citiesforpeople https://t.co/yQkTAUjHUc
[5 Hymns to Connections in Public Space]
Watch urban planner @ewawestermark's (@citiesforpeople) talk about how public space can stimulate interaction and connections between people in cities. From Deep Cuts #2 -> https://t.co/37HxLYnQsc
Extremely happy with the outcome of the second @deepcutsindeed. @nancybaym, @ewawestermark & @MariaBergius nailed it and I think not using slides in a chapel was a good decision. All 3 talks are now available with a contextualizing text by yours truly -> https://t.co/sYufZHyYLn
Some stills from Deep Cuts #2 yesterday. @nancybaym, @ewawestermark and @MariaBergius speaking the the topics of connection, relationship and belonging.
At Deep Cuts #2 @ewawestermark will talk about how public space can stimulate interaction and connections between people in cities. As an architect and urban planner at @citiesforpeople she focus on the human dimension of built environment’s effect on social interaction
@mosheroperandi@SPUR_Urbanist That is the thing. The mismatch is known, but human behaviour and human experience seems to seldom be the key driver and departure for new technology and design. It is the first time I have seen this scientifically proven in relation to automation of cars.
