@TheDrum FYI employment of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people to work as counsellors in schools (secondary) was another RCBDiC recommendation that got implemented in many states in the ‘90s.
In QLD they’re called Community Education Counsellors (CECs).
When Principals who ‘get it’ work collaboratively alongside key Indigenous staff in a school like a CEC, they can become ripple makers to help other non-Indigenous staff join in for school improvement. This way will move them into the third cultural space.

#IndigEdConf2018 I heard the wisdom out of the mouths of our students. Thank you for your honesty and considered comments. Student voice is a very important part of school improvement.
This is the third year we have gathered at the conference. It’s inspiring to hear how more and different schools are embracing their work with First Peoples. #IndigEdConf2018
A heartfelt thank you / merci beaucoup to #uLead18. You sure know how to put on a conference! It was illuminating and invigorating. May Jeff and the team at ATA get some more sleep over the coming weeks!
An ideal next workshop straight after the big panel discussion just held at uLead2018. Now at the DoE & QTU shared presentation: ‘Leading Improvement from Small Data’
