We've been told to vacate our apt by our abusive, homophobic family member, who has mentally/emotionally/financially abused us. We have until 11/4/22 to be out. Our only recourse is to move out of state to my family in Idaho. Any help is appreciated!

Got my first royalty statement for VESUVIUS and 😭 this book has now earned out like 3x over, and it hasn’t even been released for a full year. The number of copies sold is actually hard to comprehend. Like what do you mean THAT many people own a copy of my gay Pompeii book?? 🧡
I'm a fiction writer. Here's how editing works.
If you are under contract with a publishing house, their editor will mark up your manuscript for you to review. For each individual edit you can accept it, question it, or reject it with "stet".
If you self-publish and use an editor, it should work the same way. The editor suggests things, you accept them or ask for clarity or stet them.
If you self-publish and use AI to edit, AI will rewrite you depending on your prompt. If you cut and paste AI's corrections into your story, that is AI writing.
If you use AI to generate words--any words--you are not writing. You are prompting. I don't recommend doing this. Writers write.
Being edited doesn't absolve you of any responsibility for your work.
I'll be open to queries until the end of the month! Feel free to submit yours if you think we'd be a great fit 💜

"scientists discover trees talk to each other"
We told you
"scientists discover that Natives helped foster the ecosystems of these lands we know today"
WE TOLD YOU
if you like gothic botanical horror then you need my unhinged monstrous boys. Scorpion Deep is about falling in love with an eldritch sea god and Hazelthorn is about being buried alive in the garden by the boy you loved. they’re on sa|e at B&N right now!!!
I was introduced to sex early on, and reading sex scenes at 12yo.
I discovered my own body at 14yo.
I had boys knocking at 15yo.
I didn't lose my virginity until 19yo.
It's absolute crap that exposing kids to sex makes kids sexually active.
I was informed. I made the rules.
I see we need another talk about apologizing. It's an incredibly important skill, maybe the most important social skill any of us will learn, so let's take some time out of our day to do this.
A 🧵on HOW TO APOLOGIZE...
people can grow up not knowing that gay or trans people exist and still turn out gay and trans. but if you raised someone in an environment without homophobia and transphobia they wouldn't suddenly start
I want AI to anticipate what groceries I'm running low on, search every flier and website in my city to find the best price, and compile me a weekly list based on best deals per fewest stops. I do not want AI to make a picture of me if I were an astronaut.
A thread about why many "books to read for Pride Month" lists & book stacks are frustrating for my fellow authors.
If you are posting about LGBTQ+ books for Pride Month (or any month), please read!

@punished_cait As a survivor of DV, it scares the shit out of me that my ex could easily find me if I end up in the background of somebody's TikTok. And it's extremely worrisome to me that the majority of people don't seem to care about that kind of thing at all
We have been actively publishing in the SFF realm for 5+ years, we’ve seen so many good mags close—either from burnout or from lack of funds. We seen multiple calls to action and watched the slow integration of those calls.
AI/LLM & data scraping is the newest beast SFF must defeat. Fighting takes time/money & most mags are already scraping thin . Not only is the burden of researching & discovering AI/LLM works going to fall on volunteers but this is literally CLAWING FUNDS earmarked for writers
AI/LLM also takes over the conversation SFF has been having about vertical inclusion of BIPOC voices—from writing to editing. It’s tribble-ing all over the place and taking up air and attention.
Apparition does not accept AI-generated content submissions. This includes stories or poetry written or co-written by AI. We are also looking into protection against data scraping. But again, time and money is going to influence the speed in which mags can tackle incoming spam.
You can tell a lot about someone based on whether they understood Me Too as a demand for human dignity by an oppressed group or as a joyless imposition of new rules by a scolding authority.
Writers, artists and narrators have to stick together on banning AI going forward. I'm seeing way too much talk about 'it's their problem'/'well AI covers are fine, but I draw the line at books'. NO. It's all artform. It's all human expression. We leave no one behind with this.
