Fandom toxic culture not a problem limited to kpop or any single industry.
The very nature of social media is parasocial, and nowadays strong algorithms are actively driving toxic cultures. Because algorithmic design chooses to cater to people's desire for instant gratification rather than their rationality and respect for reality.
when 20-second short videos y/n fantasies drive high engagement, algorithms will endlessly replicate, amplify, and feed them to more of users, creating a collective frenzy of mass delusion. They won't show you the reality or the effort behind these manufactured moments, nor that they are just edited illusions. Instead, they encourage people to hype up bizarre narratives that ultimately harm real people.
We are all deeply caught up in this. Maybe we all should try to stay vigilant against clickbait ๏ผadvocating a rational, boundary-respecting fandom mindset.
If B.I isnโt making money, then no one is. He ranks among the top male solo artists in YouTube streams across South Korea, with multiple tracks landing on both monthly and year-end charts. One of his singles is nearly hitting 200 million streams on Spotify. His streaming numbers over the past few years are five times higher than those of some boy groups. Youโd better worry about other artists instead. ๐
