One of my favorite fairytales is The Eleven Swans (sometimes 7 or 6 but in my childhood version 11). I co-wrote an opera of this story some years ago. This reminds me of it, as well as being a lovely evocation of Tolkien’s story (was coincidentally at his grave earlier today).
