In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgent to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity.
Why Leo can’t bring peace to the Church, by Damian Thompson (@holysmoke)
Here’s what fascinates me. Leo’s triumphal progress has been greeted with rather subdued delight by two opposing wings of the Church: hardline liberals and ultra-conservatives. In front of the cameras, they’re all smiles. In private, and reading between the lines of their social media comments, not so much.
For different reasons, both were disconcerted by the ferocity of the Pope’s attack on France’s assisted dying law and its constitutional amendment guaranteeing access to abortion, which has led to an epidemic of ‘terminations’ of supposedly imperfect babies.
Not for nothing did Leo choose six altar servers with Down’s syndrome for his Paris Mass — a gesture more beautiful than any liturgical finery. He doubled down on this in his sermon, in which he said that deciding an embryo’s future by test result was like assisted dying; that it’s thoroughly sinister ‘programmed death’.

The reason I don’t think Leo is cut from the same cloth is, put simply, that you have to be stupid or intellectually lazy to think so. Francis was an Argentinian Jesuit born in the 1930s, Peronist in outlook and probably pathologically disturbed. He was vengeful and unscrupulous. Leo is an American born in the 1950s, conflict-averse (unlike Francis) and profoundly respectful of church structures and procedures that Francis held in contempt.
Presidents Biden and Trump and indeed all leaders, especially bad ones, desperately need our prayers. When their time comes, the praise and partisanship and other distracting noise of this life will fall away in an instant and, like all of us, they’ll stand before divine judgment
El Papa se negó a recibir la Legión de Honor de la República Francesa y los homenajes civiles con sus signos revolucionarios. En cambio, ha honrrado a nuestros hermanos sacerdotes y religiosos masacrados por la sanguinaria Revolución Francesa.
Even in late modernity, the prestige of the papal office remains immense. It represents something beyond the present moment and its ephemeral cultural shifts and political squabbles, something higher and permanent. This is why even many who are not observant are moved by it.
🚨 Pope Leo XIV has prayed for victims of the French Revolution this morning
He prayed at the staircase commemorating the September Martyrs, Catholic clergy who REFUSED to bow to the revolution and were massacred as a result
People need to stop misrepresenting Pope Leo. What he condemns are wars of aggression. He is not a pacifist. As he writes in Magnifica Humanitas, “armed force should be used only as a last resort in cases of legitimate self-defense… the Catechism of the Catholic Church speaks of the possibility of legitimate defense by means of military force” (paragraph 197, and note 182).

“The answer to the Jewish Question is that unless Jews are excluded from power then they will drag the world to hell.”

🚨BREAKING: Juror Michael P. Desronvil breaks his silence.
He didn't have "doubts." He said she knew EXACTLY what she was doing when she took the lives of her three innocent kids.
While others ran to the cameras, he stood on truth and justice.
God bless this man for holding the line!
🚨BREAKING: The Lone male holdout juror in the Lindsay Clancy case has been positively identified as Michael Desronvil, a Catholic and conservative.
He claims the other jurors acted like “activists” from the moment the trial began.
He’s a father to a little girl himself and reportedly Christian.
Pray for him.
