Exapta Solutions is No-till Seeding Technology. Farmers, get the most out of your equipment: more acres, better emergence, higher yields & greater profit. 🌱
Agree! Doesn't seem to be a lot of farms taking this approach though...
Slowing down the stalk rolls also helps with butt shelling when corn dries too fast.
We are seeding our “poor man’s drain tile” Rye cover crop into corn stalks.
We are anticipating a wet spring & this cover will get us into the field quicker & have a better seed bed than not planting it.
If it’s dry we just terminate the cover before it’s knee high & plant
To the extent that aggregate stability reflects soil structure, this is good news: stability is not highly related to soil C, but rather to tillage intensity.
Improve soil structure by reducing tillage; no C increase needed.

This N542C put 16,000 acres on our new ext. length Main Pin & Bushings with only 3/16" of side movement on the row unit .vs. A&I with 4000 acres at 1/8" of play.
@agronomistag This statement from the article sticks out.
"A large force driving the dilution of crop minerals is carbon emissions, which are giving plants more photosynthates with which to produce carbohydrates that drown out minerals and vitamins in food."
@okaton_farm Seems logical to question the use of the same tools used in the past, (aerway, gen-till, phoenix harrow) will provide different results today.
