@IyegereS There isn’t yet a lot of literature on MRCAs for other populations but every person alive likely has literally millions of ancestors — your ancestors were definitely shoveling horse shit, and they were also definitely kings and queens
@IyegereS I mean just about everyone has ancestors who were historical actors. The Most Recent Common Ancestor for individuals with European ancestry is calculated to have lived after 1000 CE, so every living European has ancestors including Charlemagne, Julius Caesar, King Alfred, etc
@LeighWolf@opinonhaver Wes Moore, interestingly enough, isn’t threatening a peaceful neighbor with annexation for no reason. That might help you understand the “wholesome harmless symbolic patriotism” bit
@ProgDirectorate@rowanfornow Lots of extremely poor red counties, and the wealthy suburbs are overwhelmingly Dem. Poorest parts of the state are Bootheel and Ozarks — median incomes of St. Louis city and KC proper are $52,000 and $67,000, median income of Shannon county is $44,000
@poosseau3@lwoodhouse You should pray to God he gives you the strength to be a fifth of the man of any father who risks his freedom and security to build a better life for his kids, whether he lived four hundred years ago or today. Read these words and cry yourself to sleep https://t.co/KRHbU3Jsgr
@poosseau3@lwoodhouse An American is *anyone* who decides to be. Anyone who leaves their life behind, their home behind, to build a better life for their family. Anyone who wants to build this country up, to contribute their energies to our nation, to die here as one of us, is an American
@poosseau3@lwoodhouse My ancestors came in 1630. I am named after a man who organized his county’s militia for the Revolution, a war which he gave his life for. On my other side, I have ancestors who came over in 1860 to beat enslavers. They were just as American from the moment they decided to be
@TheMcKenziest “Who was President in 2020” and “Who was President in 2019” fighting to be the toughest, most head-scratching brain teaser in American politics
@AdamPlank902@isabellaamidala This is a fan theory which was popularized on Reddit. There’s some language in the Matt Stover ROTS novelization which could be read as implying it, but it could probably more accurately be read as Stover’s typical love of poetic imagery — and the novelization isn’t canon anyway
