He/Him. Cis. Comic book lover, comics industry curmudgeon. At least trying to be nice all the time
(PLEASE tell me if I’m being rude, I will not get mad!)
General statement: apologies to anyone I get too strident with about media interpretations! I am always open to other perspectives but I’ve got a bad habit of digging in my heels in the moment.
@RobertSecundus Would be interesting to see if they somehow incorporate Infinite into a Netflix sub as a value-add, like the whole Netflix Games initiative that basically nobody uses
@thealexbatts A thing that gets me is that there are dozens of those direct-to-dvd DC animated movies directly adapting all sorts of big stories and nobody cares because it turns out they’re made to work in a specific genre
@RobertSecundus@Darren_Mooney To me this is the ugly question as somebody who loves 20+ episode tv seasons - are these shorter seasons better for actors/crew working conditions? It’s hard to say because it counterbalances with less pay/job security, but in a vacuum…
@Darren_Mooney@RobertSecundus I do think it’s interesting to compare the Who model to stuff like X-Files or Supernatural, which are probably their closest American versions - those actors were completely locked into those shows year after year, no matter how many attempts Jensen Ackles made at a career
@HannahPosted As a lefty guy with young boys, I’m absolutely terrified that they’ll rebel against me by going hard right once they grow up. I’m gonna do everything I can but it feels inevitable in this world
@perpetua I’m having a bit of a hard time parsing the audio but…she’s speaking in a normal voice and sounds slightly annoyed?? People used to shoot at paparazzi
@mattsinger This happened to me just last week in The Substance - not sure what happened, but it was just after the initial Substance sequence with the flashing lights. Guy got up, walked to the end of the row, and fell flat on his face next to me
@DavidMann95 Just ran over here as soon as I finished that story to make sure you’d seen it - the fucking mic drop of “Writer: Dan DiDio” had me on the floor
@RobertSecundus I do think one thing that makes this unique to superhero comics too is that these characters have been written by hundreds of people for almost a century - it's very easy to find a Correct version of a superhero in a way it's harder for for, like, a Succession character
