@JHWeissmann It's supply and demand. On line options have dramatically increased supply of education. Demand is flat to down due to demographics. The result on prices is predictable
@James_S_Murphy@NSClearinghouse As the former president of your Alma mater told me “ diamonds in, diamond out”. Have you adjusted for educational readiness difference of students? I doubt NU is admitting the same quality students as UoP. I bet NU outcomes would be the same with same incoming students
@PhilOnEdTech@BretlynB Phil—it’s a classic misdirect. This USED is a disaster. From FAFSA mess to the eCar mess, they display a depth of incompetence in their over reach which is spectacular. They need a bogey man to distract else they would need to look in the mirror.
@PhilOnEdTech@morganmundum If only there were a financing mechanism that allowed universities to use private capital to dramatically reduce risk to universities while shifting it to the private sector who should better understand the risks and returns of capital deployment.
@DrBethAkers It’s always interesting to see how the Dems forget they nationalized the student loan business and the federal government is the predatory lender in this narrative
@delislealleges Get ready for the next slow motion train wreck. USED is run by policy wonks. What could possibly go wrong with actually needing to run an operation? Oh wait, we know.
We are working closely with the IRS to assess and address these issues. Our initial analysis shows that fewer than 20% of previously submitted applications are affected. We will provide detailed information about the affected applications and remediation plans for these issues on Monday, April 1, 2024. @michaelbhorn USED is hastening demise of small unis with proposed rules on Rev share financing and state authorization. Only large, well resourced unis with sophisticated online infrastructure will survive. Unintended consequences.
@BretlynB More unintended consequences. Proposed USED policies wrt OPM rev share financing and state authorization will put small unis at disadvantage and favor large, resourced ones with sophisticated operations. Demise of small unis will be hastened at hand of USED policies.
@James_S_Murphy The FAFSA is only difficult here due to the glaring incompetence of USED. From leaving out inflation tables (in violation of the law) to this SS# mess, the pain inflicted on families comes not from FAFSA but from ED’s inability to execute against their core mission.
