@CharlieSimpsonA Your teacher has disordered tolerance as a chief virtue. The greatest commandment is not ‘tolerate your neighbor’ but ‘love the Lord your God’ (Matt. 22:37). Tolerance makes peace with sin; love calls sinners to Christ.
@Dcent247@haymes_joshua Right—pride in any nation above God is sin. But love for one’s people under Christ isn’t idolatry. The prophets wept for their nation because they loved it. Patriotism isn’t paganism when Christ is King.
@HeelTwo@haymes_joshua love that’s biblical is ordered. Christ Himself loved all perfectly, yet prioritized Israel in His earthly ministry (Matt. 15:24), just as we’re called to love all while bearing particular responsibility for our household, church, and nation (1 Tim. 5:8; Gal. 6:10).
