@misterbigpants Good points! You're right that we went a little too realistic over stylized on this one. It's probably why I think this previous version looks better even though it had its own problems - the color palette is just more interesting.
@TheKuchiri You're right. The units should be the top focus, then the gameplay area, then the surrounding environment, but with the flat look it's difficult to make them stand out.
Took me a while to find a good rigger, but I'm glad her animations are working now. The funny thing is, the game design has changed so much from paper playtesting that we might not even use this model in the actual game.

My article on open world design in #unity3d URP is finished and pending review from GameDeveloper. In the meantime, you can read it here:

Last week I participated in #BoundlessJam, where we produced an auction bidding game in the span of 7 days following the theme "One Button". Today, I finished writing a postmortem of my experience: https://t.co/lPd82BZTCv

Day 208 of my #3d#stylized#pbr#environmentdesign in #unity3d. Started filling in my forest using a new workflow: Placing the hero assets and landmarks first, then later will use a placement tool to fill in the stumps, rocks, and smaller trees. #gamedev#madewithunity
Starting to get more comfortable with spins! Centering is feeling more consistent, though I still need lots of practice. Backward crossovers on my weak side are also starting to feel more comfortable, though I need to get deeper knee bend. #figureskating#iceskating#progress
Day 202 of my #3d#stylized#pbr#environmentdesign in #unity3d. New wings idle animation. Temporarily disabled grass as it is undergoing shader changes. Using MagicaCloth for feathers at 0.1 blend and lots of clamping since it was not designed for wings. #gamedev#madewithunity
Cycles vs. Eevee renderer in #blender. Cycles utilizes raytracing, whereas Eevee is a rasterizer. As a hobbyist #gamedev, I feel more comfortable working with rasterizers, though raytracing is more physically accurate. Which do you prefer?

Day 179 of my #3d#stylized#pbr#environmentdesign in #unity3d. Back after ~3 weeks off from holidays. Updated eye supershader so it looks good at all times of day. Need to fix clothing clipping, any recommendations for this? #gamedev#madewithunity

Finally starting to feel comfortable doing backward crossovers. Still need to get more leg extension on the underpush, but I've been told that just comes with comfort over time as I practice. #figureskating#iceskating
