Above all, have fun. If you can't, then you're missing out. Let the mistakes happen because that's the only way we can improve as an artist. Nobody can make perfect art, only great ones. Everyone's taste is different, so don't let lack of attention be a bother. Go ahead and draw.
I highly advise artists to keep track of their journey by making an art journal. If possible, it should be one where you can paste pictures in like Google Docs. It has been a great help to me with identifying my weaknesses and where I should focus on, alongside my improvement OT.
Can't forget the good old "Carry a sketchbook wherever you go", it is extremely beneficial because you can practice no matter the place if you have free time instead of just sitting on your phone. I use mine whenever I can to experiment with things I've recently learned.
