Wat ik en onze buren gisteren hebben meegemaakt, heeft veel mensen in onze wijk diep geschokt. Het heeft ons vooral één ding heel duidelijk laten zien: in #DenBosch lijkt met twee maten te worden gemeten.
Ons wordt regelmatig verteld dat, omdat wij rondom een AZC en verschillende opvanglocaties wonen en in een Rotterdamwetwijk wonen, alles goed is geregeld: extra maatschappelijk werk, frequente politie-inzet en handhaving.
Het hele plaatje zou zijn afgedekt.
Maar gisteren troffen wij aan de achterkant van het huis een oudere man aan.
Zwaar onderkoeld, vervuild, aan de onderzijde geen onderbroek en broek, bibberend van de kou, verward, hij wist zijn eigen naam niet meer en had moeite met ademhalen.
We hebben direct eerste hulp geboden en 112 gebeld. We hebben heel duidelijk uitgelegd wat er aan de hand was.
☝️ En juist deze keer was het géén AZC’er of verslaafde.
Toch moesten we ruim twintig minuten wachten.
En daar zit voor mij de kern.
Want als je dezelfde melding doet en zegt: “Het gaat om een verwarde AZC’er” of “Het gaat om een verwarde verslaafde”, dan lijkt alles uit de kast te worden getrokken. Dan zijn ze er razendsnel.toeters&bellen
Maar deze keer ging het om een oudere man. Iemand die jarenlang gewoon heeft meegedraaid in onze maatschappij. Iemand die op dat moment zwaar onderkoeld, verward en hulpeloos op de grond lag.
En voor hem moesten we ruim twintig minuten wachten.
Toen de ambulance arriveerde, kregen we te horen dat men afhankelijk is van de manier waarop een melding bij de meldkamer binnenkomt.
Maar hoe duidelijk moet je een melding dan nog maken?
Wie je bent, of tot welke doelgroep je behoort, zou nooit bepalend mogen zijn voor hoe snel je hulp krijgt.
Een oudere, hulpeloze man verdient precies dezelfde urgentie als ieder ander.
Iedereen verdient hulp wanneer die hulp nodig heeft #punt

The host tries to claim it is "dangerous" to say all the migrants should leave Spain.

The mother explodes: "If they came by violating a border, they must return in the same way. Because our children are not to blame. My children were locked up in my house... My children are 14 and 12 years old. Is it right that they can't go to the beach?"

The mother then appears to leave the host stunned, at least for a moment: "Bring your kids here! Bring them if you have the guts! Sitting in Madrid all dressed up, it's very easy."
