I write code for a living and occasionally for fun. I find purpose in building. I like podcasts, various Sci-fi or fantasy novels, Tv shows, movies, and games.
@noughtscape@lakshaymehta08 The cab driver did say that? The rider escalated by saying he wasn't going to put out the cigarette. What else is the driver supposed to do at that point?
@lydiakauppi The lyrics don't have a hidden meaning and they aren't subtle. What exactly is there to misunderstand? What indicates to you that *Bruce Springsteen* doesn't understand song writing?
@Acyn I wish Democrats could achieve so much. Unfortunately for us all the Dem party only wants to keep the status quo. Which is still better than Republicans who only want to disrupt it for their and their donors' benefit.
@semi_const@jimthegiant How can you claim "nobody has any any idea" if you don't read the measurements that produce the data that confirm anthropogenic change? If you want to be intentionally ignorant that's your choice I guess but you're wrong.
@semi_const@jimthegiant This is just simply untrue. I'm not sure if you're misinformed or lying so I'll extend some grace and assume it's the former. It has been well established via empirical measurements for years.

I'm not running for office. But if I were, these are some of the lessons I'd take away from what happened in NY yesterday.
1. Authenticity is measurable. Voters can smell a focus group from a mile away.
2. Endorsements from the current Democratic leadership now read like warnings. The establishment wing of the party is no longer a sword. It's a question mark.
3. Conviction beats caution. The candidates who said hard things about rent, about who pays for what, about Gaza, they won. The triangulators lost.
4. Cost of living is everything. Everything else is wallpaper.
5. The middle is not a strategy. It's an empty room. Voters reached past the establishment to grab someone who actually believes something.
6. Don't fear the base. Court it. The Democrats who ran from their own voters lost. The ones who ran toward them won.
7. If you want to lead a party you have to be willing to fight inside it. Mamdani didn't ask permission. He took the field.
The lesson under the lessons: the country is tired of being managed. People want to be led.
@ZyMazza Automating personal car repair will almost certainly never be cost effective. There is too much variance between models and brands, troubleshooting requires too much human judgement, and existing profit margins are too high. AI may help diagnose problems but that's it for a while
@ZyMazza@FleischmanMena Automating taking orders is easy and cheap. Automating cooking orders is much more difficult. It's not impossible but you need a lot of expensive equipment, the store needs to effectively be designed for that equipment, and you need humans to maintain and troubleshoot it.
@GordianFrost@Alonso_GD How does inverting one axis of a chart support that assertion? The data does not appear to support your claim either way. If you're trying to show that the majority of violent crimes are committed by people with non-violent criminal histories there are much better data sets.
@GordianFrost@Alonso_GD "People per murder?" What even is that? The inverse murder rate? This still shows minimal correlation for the first 15 years too but you're applying a function to one plot to change the shape. I'm not sure you understand the actual criticism being made here?
@SaltyApologist@ChristiansSTDT Are you trying to say that fallacies can only apply to "proof" and not to "evidence"? The fallacy is in the comparison itself.
@NJFods@Scott_Wiener Have you read the MOU? They didn't "lose their nuclear ambition" at all. The people killed have already been replaced. They are $400 billion dollars richer. They will now tax ships going through the Strait. Iran gave up literally nothing and got every single thing they demanded.
Exactly. Tell the truth.
The voters failed America.
Not Joe Biden. Not Kamala Harris. Not anyone else.
They had an effective president with a moral compass, a steady hand, and a real record of results.
And they chose a man historians rank among the worst presidents in American history, a corrupt, deranged mobster with no morality, no decency, and no respect for democracy.
Stop sanitizing it.
The country was given a choice.
Enough voters chose chaos.
@bklynymk@IsaacHayes3 As a white man I see where you're coming from. No one I know or socialize with behaves this way and if they did I'd call them out on it. But this is happening on the White House lawn. These may not be "mainstream" views but they are views our *Government* seems to endorse.
@chunks1nees@actingliketommy This is not true. In 2022 Biden did approve aid. Individual claims in two counties were denied due to insufficient damages but this photo is from Wheeler which is not in either county. Biden never refused to aid any state in any emergency due to "illegal aliens."
