A man dies a thousand times a day, in ten thousand ways. Not the body. The man he thought he was.
He dies first as a boy, the morning he learns his father cannot fix everything. He dies when the girl looks past him. He dies in the dirt of the playing field, in the silence after the wrong word, in the office where another man is chosen. He dies when the money runs out, and again when it comes in and changes nothing. He dies at his mother’s bedside. He dies in the mirror. He dies at the door of his own house, coming home spent to people who need more than he has left. He goes in anyway.
King or ditch digger, it makes no difference. The rich man dies in silk, the poor man in wool, and both are dead before breakfast. This is not misfortune. It is the toll of the road, and every boy who would be a man pays it, knowing or not.
We do not regret it. We do not flinch from it. We do not ask that it be otherwise. It never was. It never will be. It is the fate of men.
The coward spends his life trying not to die, and so dies every day and learns nothing. The man takes each death standing. He lets it pass through him, and he rises to the work in front of him. In that he finds a peace no one can take, because it rests on nothing that can be taken. He died today. He will die tonight. He keeps his word, carries his load, and holds his post in the World of Man.
That is the strength to survive anything. Not the hope of never falling. The certainty of rising.
Die well. Die often. Then get up and do to work.

If you’re thinking about moving to El Salvador, one of the easiest ways to get acclimated, avoid frustration, and find your footing is to plug into @BuildInES. It’s the ecosystem I wish I had when I first arrived.
Haitian gangs have received President @nayibbukele’s ultimatum. Four Salvadoran soldiers serving with the Gang Suppression Force (@GSForceHaiti) were attacked in Haiti, and now Salvadoran special forces are on the way. The mission is clear, rescue our soldiers and bring them home.
“No tomen nuestras palabras como amenazas vacías”, Presidente @nayibbukele. 🇸🇻
El Salvador no abandona a los suyos. Nuestros cuatro compatriotas, miembros de la misión salvadoreña en Haití, deben regresar a casa vivos y sin ningún daño.
El mensaje es claro: con El Salvador no se juega. 🇸🇻👊🏻
There’s no property tax in El Salvador.
The govt. supplies all the programs and services by being efficient, with no corruption.
Anyone who says property tax is essential to fund government services should study how El Salvador is providing world class services without property tax.
‘There’s enough money if no one steals’
El Salvador has only 6 million people, less than Dallas - Fort Worth, one metro area in the US. So if you ever wondered why they so attacked Nayib Bukele, now you know.
It wasn't really about BTC that was only part of it. What they really didn't like was taking the country back for its people.
Costa Rica shows you the real fear. That this approach works and Central America is full of small nations that can in fact replicate it. In time more and more will.
The shit our CIA has pulled in this region is disgraceful and I do know a little of it first hand. It is time for this region which has so much going for it, to realize its potential. It will never happen but if anyone deserves a nobel peace prize it is @nayibbukele
If you follow basic politics in Mexico, you’ll understand how Mexicans in the US ende up voting for Trump.
Mexican discourse on foreigners:
“If you move to Mexico you better speak our language”
“You aren’t Mexican unless you’re born and raised in Mexico”
“Respect our culture”
“These expats are driving up the cost of Mexico”
They are conservatives at heart
Mediaite: An AI-generated video of a man falsely accusing Texas Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico of sexual assault was the work of a covert group in Russia.
Earlier this week, a man identifying himself as Zyon Lewis posted a video on X/Twitter claiming he was assaulted by his middle school teacher in 2012. The teacher, Lewis continued, was Talarico.

Capt Marty Nelson has an incredible story, and we’re thankful for his service to our country.
But we’ve gotten the chance to talk about the issues veterans face right here in Texas, and he knows there’s only one candidate in this race who has real solutions to help our veterans.
@MacroJason Ksenia #Sobchak who often dabbled in liberal politics before 2014 is the daughter of #Putin's mentor/godfather in St Petersburg politics, Anatoly Sobchak. Which explains a lot.
@BrianMcDonaldIE indeed, Ukraine was on par with Russia in 1990 and much richer than Belarus. Yet soon, i.p. after 2000, Ukraine did not only go down but stayed in the hole- 25 long years with essentially zero progress, everything rotten and stolen. What a shame.
@samboedenmannDC@BrianMcDonaldIE It's so hard for Boedenmann to admit that #Ukraine nose dived because its elites were wildly corrupt and not prepared for independence (to be sure, #Russia was on the same trajectory in the early to mid-Nineties).
Zelensky is absolutely right. In 1991, Ukraine inherited an extraordinary economic foundation, with a highly educated workforce, formidable scientific and industrial capacity (including Antonov and the Donbass and Krivbas industrial regions), vast natural resources and some of the world’s best agricultural land.
Politically, too, Ukraine had considerable advantages. Under Brezhnev (who came from Dnepropetrovsk region), officials associated with the Ukrainian party apparatus occupied many of the Soviet Union’s most powerful positions. Ukraine therefore entered independence with an established political and managerial elite.
It also emerged without any responsibility for Soviet external debt (which Moscow was forced to assume in exchange for Soviet overseas assets).
Yet just 15 years later, Ukraine’s GDP per capita was roughly half that of Russia and Poland in purchasing power terms, while in nominal US dollars, the disparity was even greater.
A disproportionate amount of foreigners in post war Ukraine are Israelis, Arabs and Turks preying on the women there. I hope at the minimum they are sticking with adult women but I fear worse (like what happened to children in Berlin during Weimar hyperinflation times).
