About 300,000 people in the U.S. identified as Bangladeshi in 2023 — making Bangladeshi Americans the 12th-largest Asian origin group (~1% of Asians in the U.S.), per Census data. 95% identify as Bangladeshi alone, 5% in combination with other origins.
Estimates suggest there are over 10,000 Bangladeshi engineers working in the United States, particularly in metropolitan areas and key sectors such as IT, civil, electrical, and mechanical engineering.

Over 75% of Bangladeshi students in the U.S. pursue STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), well above the Asian American average.

The exact number of Bangladeshi doctors is also hard to pinpoint, but it is estimated that at least 5,000-10,000 Bangladeshi physicians are practicing or training in the U.S. #ExpatBD#ExpatBDFacts
Our first initiative is to form all-volunteer high school student groups, working with 501(c)(3) orgs, to conduct demographic and socioeconomic surveys and build statistical models of the Bangladeshi expats in US, CA, AU, etc.
Excited to launch EXPATBD by AKTIFUL — a global platform for Bangladeshi expats to access data, tech, and community to enrich their personal, social, and national lives.
