In Curitiba, Brazil 🇧🇷, they are moving forward with the dismantling of all the power cables to convert them underground.
Many parts of Buenos Aires are doing the same.
Southern Cone ftw
Yes @durov, Georgia can give a foreigner a bank account, a mountain horizon, and a supra in the same week; the harder question is whether the country can protect that openness while Russia, EU conditionality, tourism money, and domestic politics pull in different directions.
I almost moved to Estonia 🇪🇪 instead of Paraguay 🇵🇾
On paper it's a flag theory dream
✅ e-Residency
✅ An EU company set up in an afternoon
✅ Fully digital government
✅ Low taxes
✅ Almost no corruption
✅ Fast internet
✅ Safe streets
The spreadsheet screamed yes... So I went to actually test it. A full month, which is what I recommend you to do before you move anywhere
By week two I was losing my mind
I couldn't meet anyone. People were impolite and completely closed off. I'd go days without a real conversation. And there's no expat community to speak of
Then one night I went to grab dinner around 8pm and realized everything was already shut. 7pm and the whole city goes dark
For a guy from Spain, it felt like moving into a very efficient waiting room
I would have gone genuinely insane if I'd signed a lease
That trip taught me the lesson that saves people the most money and the most regret:
A country can be perfect on paper and completely wrong to live in. Tax rate, residency speed, EU access... none of it matters if you're miserable by week three. The spreadsheet doesn't tell you whether you'll have a life there
Go spend a month somewhere before you commit to anything
What's the country that looked perfect on paper and bored you out of your mind in person? 👇
Easily the most balanced overview of European quality of life vs entrepreneurship I've yet read on Twitter. And as founder of @expatriator that's saying a lot.
A must read if you're thinking about relocating.
President Ursula von der Leyen officially announced the EU–INC today at Davos!
A single legal entity for all European founders to grow massive companies in Europe. Online incorporation in 48 hours. No more bureaucratic mess across European borders.
All of you made this happen!
> Seja a jornalista alemã Vicky Richter
