Here's a behind-the-scenes look at my collaboration with the National Park Service – unifying the digital experience for hundreds of sites into a simple modular system. Thanks to friends at @figma for showcasing the work.

The Upper Three Mile Preserve in Old Lyme is an early highlight for the year!
The rugged terrain, thick mountain laurel, and clear swift waters were like interlaced elements of great Metacomet and Shenipsit hikes into this one land trust loop
Just revisited a true hidden gem in Willington - the Talmadge Tract! The new Split Rock Outlook trail is a well-timed surprise and the deep mossy boulders along the UCONN Loop Trail are like stepping into a fairytale

Grey sky and straw colored winter hikes in South Windsor this weekend
Visiting the highest point in town at the Niederwerfer Sanctuary and boardwalk views along the Podunk River at Major Donnelly Preserve
I thru-hiked all 50.2 miles of the Shenipsit Trail this weekend amid peak mountain laurel bloom
Connecticut's 3rd longest blue trail is named with a Mohegan word meaning "at the great pool"
The trail features overlooks, waterfalls, history, and yes a couple road walks
Stopped at Sperry Falls after visiting Whitlock's Book Barn in Bethany
The rains had surged the Sargent River completely overflowing the rock that normally splits this waterfall.
It had me pining for my real camera to fully capture these falls in this unique moment
Wrapped up the adventure post-hike with a fantastic reuben at GW Tavern and a stop to the Hickory Stick Bookshop

Explored the highlights on a recent hike to Hidden Valley Preserve in Washington
The first stop was the Quartz Mine, last active in 1915. A series of quartz littered switchbacks lead up to the mine in a shallow ravine with a quartz lined cave
The Shepaug River was running dark and swift in all these winter rains so I finished up the hike with an easy loop using the Thoreau and Memorial bridges
Explored the Moosup Valley State Park Trail
Parts urban mill history, parts rural character, parts paved, parts overgrown. Plus a hidden stone chamber
It reminds me of the Air Line Trail as it was a decade ago and hope it receives the same improvements at some point
Hikes in Killingly and Pomfret today:
The Killingly trail is so new I don't think it has an official name yet, but great views of the Quinebaug River
Kimball Memorial Forest has fantastic trail connecting to the Air Line Trail and the next big hit for MTB trails, Pomfret Forest
