Project Lost Light invites professional scientists, citizen scientists, and students from around the world to participate in a challenge to replicate -- or challenge -- pre-Sputnik transient studies using historical (pre-Sputnik) photographic plate collections from around the world.
First prize: $75,000
Second prize: $50,000
Third prize: $25,000
The competition accepts data from all pre-Sputnik photographic plate collections, except those from Palomar Observatory.
Learn how to detect transients, search for transient hotspots, investigate possible correlations with documented nuclear tests, and see where your own methods take you! Are we alone on Earth, or are we witnessing the presence of another civilization?
Stop waiting for governments, UAP committees, or presidents to give you the answer -- go out and find it yourself.
The competition is open to individuals and teams who have not previously published research on pre-Sputnik transients.
The competition is hosted and independently organized by Research Hub:

I discussed with the author, Leonard David, the plus and minus of the implications of the new whistleblower legal waiver made by the government if whistleblowers provide information to "PURSUE representatives". There was no information provided on how to reach these "PURSUE representatives." The protection is not much different than the protection already given to a whistleblower if they talk to AARO.

The Brazilian government released more UAP files this year. Here is the link.
https://t.co/8g2HuHfN2x
Within their files are several on the Varginha, Brazil incident regarding a UAP that landed and an entity that was captured. This incident was investigated and featured by James Fox. One of the files (varginha-ipm-07-ipm) contains two witness interrogations that state the event did not occur and that the soldier who died had a hospital infection that occurred after getting a cyst removed.
The best way to know the truth is to have multiple DNA tests done of bacteria at wound sites in the deceased soldier.
Below is a translation of the Brazilian article.
TERM OF WITNESS INTERROGATION
On the tenth day of the month of March of the year one thousand nine hundred and ninety-seven, in this city of Três Corações, State of Minas Gerais, at the School of Sergeants of the Arms, where the Officer in Charge of this Inquiry was present, the undersigned witness appeared and was questioned about Portaria No. 009-Aj G.2 of 29 January 1997, Folio No. 006, which was read to him, and declared the following:
OLÍMPIO VANDERLEI SANTOS, 47 years old, native of Rio de Janeiro-RJ, son of Wanderley Oliveira Santos and Mrs. Doracy Costa Santos, married, active-duty military, Lieutenant-Colonel of the Infantry branch, residing at Avenida Getúlio Vargas, 421, Centro, in this city, Chief of the 13th Military Service Circumscription.
After the commitment to tell the truth, he declared:
Asked if he had already become aware of the publication entitled INCIDENTE EM VARGINHA by ufologist Vitório Pacaccini and Mr. Maxs Portes, he replied that he had seen it at a newsstand in the city of Varginha but had not had the curiosity to read it.
Asked if he knew that his name was being cited in the mentioned book, he replied that he did not.
Asked if he personally knew, or knew by hearsay, the authors of the publication, he replied that he does not know them and only became aware of these gentlemen’s existence on the day he received a phone call from an MGTV reporter informing him that a meeting of ufologists was taking place in Varginha and that at that meeting his name was being cited by one of these ufologists as responsible for the supposed capture of an extraterrestrial being.
The Officer in Charge of the IPM commented that the witness was pointed out by the authors, several times in the book, as being the chief and principal person responsible for the team that captured the creature, and then asked if such statements were true.
He replied that they were not; such information is totally untrue, and furthermore demonstrates total irresponsibility and lack of character on the part of those responsible for this procedure.
Asked if he knows how this false information about his participation in the capture of the extraterrestrial being reached the authors of the book, he replied that he does not, but he supposes that, because he commanded the Command and Services Battalion of the School for three years, in the performance of his command duties he was obliged to make decisions that may have displeased some military personnel, and he believes that, unfortunately, this story was created by some career professional of the EsSA with the intention of taking revenge for something the witness may have done in the interest of the service and that may have harmed that person.
He added that the story was very well engineered by the authors, since he knows that Major Ramires (commander of the Maintenance and Transport Company) and Lieutenant Tibério (commander of the Army Police Platoon) were also involved.
Asked why these military personnel would also have been involved in this plot that is the theme of the indicated book, he replied that they are military personnel with important functions in the Battalion and that, probably, also in their daily professional work, they made decisions that displeased some subordinates. He further believes that the author or authors of this story are from Major Ramires’ subunit and that they had probably already been approached by the Army Police Platoon during the practice of some disciplinary infraction.
Another possible reason he mentioned was when he, as officer in charge of an inquiry investigating a breach of secrecy in a Current Verification carried out in the Infantry Course, at the end of that inquiry requested punishment for military personnel who had contributed to the failure pointed out.
Asked if he suspects who was responsible for informing the authors of the indicated publication of his name, he replied that he does not, but believes it was a career professional, since he does not consider it likely that a private soldier would have the intellectual capacity to plan a story of such magnitude.
When shown by the Officer in Charge of the IPM a photograph appearing on page 83 of the publication (and at Folio 159 of these records), he was asked if he recognized the photograph and the place where it was taken. He replied that yes, it is a copy of the photograph taken inside the Battalion Command Post to appear in the magazine O Monitor, and not, as stated in the publication, “captured” from a video.
Regarding the authors’ claim about the assembly of a tunnel with truck tarpaulins, the witness said the comment is fantastical and quite similar to a scene in the film E.T. by Steven Spielberg, in which doctors use a tunnel made of plastic material to move to where the “being” had been placed.
Asked if he has knowledge of any military member of the EsSA having been transferred to another garrison because of involvement in the “ET of Varginha” case, he replied that no, and that all transfers were normal.
Asked if at any moment he considered himself harmed by the statements contained in the book by Mr. Vitório Pacaccini and Mr. Maxs Portes, or if he saw harm to the military institutions considered (Brazilian Army, School of Sergeants of the Arms, and Fire Department), he replied that yes: in the personal sphere the repercussions caused a series of difficulties in his family life, resulting even in health problems, especially for his wife, who remains under treatment to the present date. In addition, the troubles he lived through having his name broadcast by various information organs throughout Brazil were very serious and unpleasant, and with regard to the image of the Brazilian Army institution, he believes it was considerably harmed and that his name was irreversibly stained because of the absurd and fantastical facts of which he was a victim.
Nothing further was said or asked. The Officer in Charge of this Inquiry closed the present term, which began at 14:00 hours and ended at 16:30 on the same day. After being read and found to be in order, it is signed by the witness and by me, Vinícius Proba dos Santos, 3rd Sergeant serving as Clerk, who wrote it.

Pages 16–17 – Witness Interrogation: Lt. Col. Maurício Antônio Santos (Military Police)
TERM OF WITNESS INTERROGATION
On the eleventh day of the month of March of the year one thousand nine hundred and ninety-seven… the witness MAURÍCIO ANTÔNIO SANTOS, 44 years old, native of Bom Despacho-MG, Lieutenant-Colonel of the Military Police of the State of Minas Gerais, Commander of the 24th Military Police Battalion (Varginha), appeared and declared:
He knows the content of the indicated book only vaguely, by hearsay; he is seeing the volume for the first time on this occasion.
He assumed command of the 24th BPM in Varginha on 12 January of the current year. Around 19 January there was a strong rainstorm with high winds that caused many incidents attended by the Fire Department with support from the Battalion.
The next day he was sought by Mr. Ubirajara (who identified himself as a ufologist) accompanied by another gentleman whose name he does not recall. They asked whether there had been any occurrence involving extraterrestrial beings. He replied that among the occurrences registered at the Battalion none concerned extraterrestrials.
He also stated that Captain Alvarenga of the Fire Department was approached by a reporting team and, by his personal manner of speaking, gave the impression of joking about the subject; this image was exploited by the press and displeased the Military Police command, leading to disciplinary questioning. After the episode Captain Alvarenga began avoiding any interviews, which was interpreted as an attempt to conceal facts.
Regarding the transfer of Major Maciel to Poços de Caldas, that intention existed long before these events; it was the Major’s own desire to command the Independent Company there.
Concerning the death of PM Soldier Marco Eli Cherese (widely reported by the media as resulting from a strange virus acquired from the extraterrestrial creature, a claim originating from the deceased’s own sister): the former soldier had a cyst (lump) under his left armpit and had already scheduled surgery to remove it. Death occurred as a result of a severe hospital infection after the operation (copy of the report attached at Folios 235–237). The former soldier was not officially involved in any occurrence with extraterrestrials.
Regarding the supposed appearance of the creature, he believes the girls mentioned in the book may have been confused by the rain, wind, and lightning in a poorly lit place, and may have seen a local citizen known by the nickname “Mudinho” (who lives near Rua Três Pontas, Jardim Andere, Varginha – photographs attached at Folio 261). This person apparently has some mental deviation, spends hours squatting, playing with small objects and rummaging in trash; his physical structure and posture, except for the eyes, horns and other small details, correspond to the description of the extraterrestrial creature in the book.
The Battalion issued a circular note to the press, which (according to the book) was publicly contested and called a lie, discrediting the institution and causing irreparable moral damage. Internally there has been great embarrassment because of jokes from colleagues asking insistently about the capture of the ET.
The term began at 14:40 and ended at 16:45. Signed by the witness and the Clerk.

At the Disclosure Forum, clinical psychologist and Foundation Advisory Board Member Dr. Jennice Vilhauer (@JenniceVilhauer) discussed the role that communication, institutional trust, and the media environment may play in preparing the public for greater UAP transparency.
One persistent obstacle is what Dr. Vilhauer describes as the “giggle effect." This is the tendency to treat UAP unseriously because individuals may fear that serious engagement with the subject will damage their own credibility and reputations.
That stigma has consequences. It can discourage witness reporting, inhibit scientific research, degrade the quality of available data, and create additional barriers to responsible disclosure.
As Dr. Vilhauer emphasizes in this clip: “The takeaway here is that the delivery [of the message] matters as much as what is disclosed.”
Preparing for UAP disclosure therefore means more than releasing information. It also means creating an environment in which that information can be examined seriously, responsibly, and without stigma.

Dive deep into the world of UAP with the official podcast from the Scientific Coalition for UAP Studies (SCU). Hosted by Dr. Michael Glawson, a philosopher of science and technology, this podcast brings together top scientists and other experts to explore Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) from a rigorous intellectual perspective
The guest on this show is Michael Zimmerman, Professor Emeritus of Philosophy at both the University of Colorado Boulder and Tulane University.
His work sits at the intersection of philosophy of technology and environmental thought — and he was among the foundational figures who helped establish environmental philosophy as a serious academic discipline, at a time when most philosophers weren't paying attention to the natural world at all. He's the author of several influential books and more than a hundred articles and chapters, and his thinking ranges widely: from the dangers embedded in our technological civilization, to Eastern philosophy and Buddhism, to what integral theory can tell us about the environmental crisis.
Dr. Zimmerman was a collaborator with John Mack on the subject of nuclear war and alien abduction until Mack's death in 2004. Dr. Zimmerman has continued to publish academic work on the UAP/UFO and abduction phenomena today.
He's now a board member of the Society for UAP Studies, where he continues to think carefully and publicly about what these phenomena mean — for philosophy, for consciousness, and for our picture of the cosmos.

This statement was made by Avi Loeb today in his daily blog:
"If - as reported - UAP orbs were downed, then scientific analysis of their motion in response to human engagement, as well as their material structure, chemical and isotopic composition, could test unambiguously whether the orbs represent alien technologies."
I think a scientist's first reaction to the "supposed" downing of a "supposed" alien technology should not be excitement regarding the research that we could do evaluating the downed technology; the first reaction should be that the downing of a benign alien technology is morally abhorrent, irresponsible, and carries unknown consequences.
This excellent @TIME cover story is another example of the remarkable progress being made in bringing serious discussion of UAP into the mainstream. One of our objectives at @DisclosureFound has been to ensure that credible people, in credible forums, could speak credibly about this issue. Seeing that effort reflected on the cover of Time is an important milestone. Much remains to be done, but this represents genuine progress.
We look forward to seeing you at next year’s conference. The 2027 conference dates will be announced through our website as soon as they are confirmed. (9/9)
