Here is the White-tailed Sabrewing, one of Trinidadโs incredible hummingbirds. A true gem of our rich biodiversity, found right here in the Caribbean, as we boast having one of the highest diversity of hummingbirds in the region.
With the @BirdsCaribbean International Conference coming up this July, thereโs no better time to learn more about our diverse range of species.

Our featured photographer, Nicholas Walker (@nwalker_34), captures everything from our rich biodiversity to our vibrant cultural melting pot through his unique lens, sharing what makes Trinidad and Tobago so special to him.
โTrinidad and Tobago has so much to see, so much culture, landscapes, animals, peopleโฆ itโs hard to be bored of shooting. The richness of our home gives me a huge one-up compared to other countries that might have different options but not a wider variety of things.
What I love most might be the trivial things to most people. If you travel, you might get me. Something as simple as wearing a vest in December and not having to worry about the cold (luxury). The fact that if I want to sell fruit, I can go by the corner and pitch a tent once itโs not bothering anybody (opportunities). Our music, or the mixture of humans and races, that is special. Our land is fertile, our rivers flow. I went to another destination a few months ago, they donโt even have a river. I went to another to search for parrots. After days of searching, we probably found maybe two up close. While in Trinidad, we see them at the side of the road. I could go on and on. Itโs a blessing to be from here.โ

Our next photographer feature is the talented Nicholas Walker (@nwalker_34), who has an eye for capturing our vibrant Trinbago with incredible detail. Walker shares more about his story with us.
โI went to St. Maryโs College. While there, I played and won an intercol championship, which landed me on the national team. Through travelling and playing, I had 8 different scholarship offers before I settled and decided I should go to school. There, I won a few championships, which saw me get drafted into the MLS (Major League Soccer) in 2014.
In 2018, I came back to Trinidad and Tobago, and in 2019, I became certified as a tour guide and started my hiking business. From there, I introduced photography to my clients, where I would hire a photographer, and one day he couldnโt come, so I borrowed a camera to do it myself without any experience in the field and fell in love with it.
Fast forward years later, and here I am.โ
