Very goods news.
The Stamp Duty Holiday has been extended until the end of June for properties up to £500,000 and then homes up to £250,000 until the end of September!
This has been a huge effort from everyone who has signed the petitions and pushed the message.
Thank you 🙏
We've seen so many tweets of people anxious their property sales will fall through without any extension.
We just hope this is some light relief for them at an already incredibly stressful time.
If the stamp duty holiday ends in March, we risk a slump in the housing market and housebuilding sector.
In our new report, we are calling on the Govt to either permanently increase the threshold on primary residences or abolish the tax outright ⬇️

This is the brutal reality of not extending the stamp duty holiday.
Buyers being forced to pay excessive taxes, through no fault of their own.

Time to listen, @RishiSunak@RobertJenrick
We mean, it's a start....

BUT a 6 week extension does not resolve the main issues.
It needs to be ANYONE who has agreed a sale and a 6 MONTH extension to increase confidence in the market.
Delays are out the buyers hand, why should they be punished?
Good news!
Monday (1st February) at 16.30pm has been announced as the date for the debate in parliament.
It will be a 90 minute debate. Set your clocks 🤞
@Andrina04646691@RobertJenrick It was said yesterday that no announcement is likely until the budget on the 3rd of March. We will of course be pushing for some clarification before then.
Ahead of Mondays debate, everyone please tell @RobertJenrick in the comments just how much an Extension to the Stamp Duty Holiday would mean to them!

@FairerShare@CarolLewis101 Unfortunately, not. We just picked up the petition in its infancy and have tried to promote it. We have also been trying to track down Jonathan!
🗓️ We have scheduled an 'e-petition session' on a petition on the #StampDutyHoliday, which has over 124,000 signatures.
This live session will allow MPs to discuss the issues raised by the petition & put their concerns to the Government.

We just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who has signed the petition so far. Almost 125,000 signatures shows the desire (and desperation) people have for the Stamp Duty Holiday to be extended.
The government must listen, it must be debated and it MUST be extended. 🏡
@Ben_Everitt “People spend thousands on home improvements when they move. That’s great for local businesses and provides tax returns for the Treasury."
We agree.
Listen to your party @RishiSunak 🏡
This CAN NOT be allowed to happen.
Debating petitions are a key part of our democracy.
Any delay will cause more stress and angst at this incredibly worrying time.
A debate must happen.
They can't hide from their responsibilities
