Greetings, fam! It’s that time of year again. Before you roll your eyes thinking, “Oh great, another ‘Top Grails I Scored This Year’ post,” let me stop you right there. This isn’t that.
For starters, there’s simply too much incredible art to choose from. Picking an arbitrary “top 10” or “top 20” wouldn’t do justice to the sheer creative output we’ve witnessed in 2024. Plus, let’s be real— ranking with price in mind wouldn’t feel genuine when so many of my favorite works this year came from @rodeodotclub. But these pieces of raw creative process are the real art and it is truly refreshing to see artists diving into the experimentation and getting rewarded therefor. Finally, there are other, non-artsy, things that I want to address. That said, let’s talk birds eye view: the Expo, you, me, the industry, and some forward-looking thoughts for the year ahead. Don’t worry—there will be visuals ;) 👇

I seem to collect less art in recent months entirely because there are too many art platforms spread across too many chains.
Considerations:
1. Nft fine art is borderless. There is no need to create/collect art on every platform and chain as a checklist matter or a prereq to success. Thinking of this industry/ecosystem in terms of segmented chains with each having their own little grails is overall very short-sighted.
2. Impossible to keep track of new mints and releases.
3. Impossible to keep a centralzied portfolio of owned works and/or operate a centralized virtual gallery.
4. Unsafe.
5. Too much hassle in terms of time and logistics to collect.
6. Artists that mint on 100500 chains and platforms likely dedicate little to no time to legally protecting their works/rights due to sheer amount of time and money it would require to document/track/enforce.
Tldr: quality > quantity🤷♂️
I've been following Wren's work starting with his Harmony journey since its early days in September 2022. The time went on, the tools got more sophisticated, the demand for quality has only grown stronger. What stayed the same is Wren's consistency in delivering beautiful, highly technical and unique in their creation process wall-hangable works.

Sinister Peonies by @ManekiNekoAIArt, Summer '22. The very first of more than 3,000 works that I've collected on Tezos and the one that laid the foundation for the Expo. Still one of my all time fav AI works and artists!❤️🔥
Hello, World!👀
The Illiquid Expo keeps growing and will now have an eth branch coupled with a dedicated curation platform focusing on generative and AI art. As has always been the keystone in the Expo philosophy, the new World will be entirely about the art and the artists and never about the follower counts or floor prices. Accordingly (and if truly yours doesn't mess up the setup process😂), there will be 0 fees associated with being part of the Expo and the curation within. For the culture, fam🫡
P.s. much love to @RDToTheMoon and the @foundation team for inviting me to take on this new project.
Another goodie collection that is swimming under the radar. Just go and look at those outputs on Tender (link below) - the depth and colors are sick!
