In parallel with field trials, we are conducting laboratory tests on the biopriming effect of extract and compounds from algae and cyanobacteria on tomato seed germination and seedlings development.
The project involves tests conducted in the field, greenhouse and laboratory. Here some images provided by CREA-AA (Bologna) of the field trial: treated tomato seedings are trasplanted. End of May. A detail of the seedlings about twenty days after transplanting. #seaweed#Tomato
This project involves the use of Jania adhaerens, a red alga kindly provided by the research centre @bancoespanoldealgas
Extract from Jania is one of the extracts used for tomato treatment.

This will be the outline of the project EXTRAFIT: Extracts of Algae and Cyanobacteria for Phytoiatric and Phytotherapeutic Use in Organic Agriculture and Human Health.
The project is coordinated by CRA-AA (Bologna, Italy) together with other partners and collaborators such as @DISTAL (University of Bologna), MicoperiBlueGrowth and the @BEA (BancoEspanoldeAlgas, Spain).
@distal The question is: Can algae, cyanobacteria and their derivatives be powerful allies in both organic agriculture and human health?
This project is a collaboration of several research centers aims to study the potential of these organisms!
