@KenKirtland17 A nozzle extension in vacuum is like ~20% efficiency loss, the upper stage has 328sec isp, without a nozzle it's like 250ish, the terminal guidance feedback loop would've detected the deviance in the preloaded trajectory, imo the mission was a loss the moment the nozzle went bang
@kadonkey I remember the side veins on the F14A , sadly they were removed in later models due to complexity and maintenance problems and replaced with some RWR antenna's
@DrChrisCombs DART knows where it is at all times. It knows this because it know where it isn't. By subtracting where it is from where it isn't, or where it isn't from where it is, whichever is greater, it obtains a difference, or deviation, so yes it's a missle
