@MoEgger I'll be honest with you... I believe most of Cincinnati has checked out of baseball already this year and are just waiting on Bengals training camp.
Happy 68th Birthday to the massively talented, history-making Singer, Songwriter, Musician, Global Icon and Music Legend, the One & Only #Prince, one of the greatest performers of All Time! 🐐👑💜
Prince is one of the Best-selling artists in history, having sold over 150 million records worldwide, and one of the greatest musicians of his generation! A multi-instrumentalist and guitar virtuoso, Prince played nearly every instrument, blending funk, rock, R&B, pop, and jazz like no one else! He released 39 studio albums plus hundreds of songs in his vault! Prince pioneered the Minneapolis sound while fiercely advocating for artists' rights. He has scored 30 Top 40 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, including 5 No. 1 singles. His landmark album Purple Rain (1984) spent 24 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and won two Grammys! In 1984 he became the first artist to simultaneously top the charts with a No. 1 film (Purple Rain), album, and single ("When Doves Cry"), with the soundtrack winning an Academy Award for Best Original Song Score! He has been honoured with numerous other awards including 7 Grammys, 6 American Music Awards, 8 BRIT Awards, a Golden Globe, a Billboard Award and the World Music Legend Award in 1994, and was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2004 in his first year of eligibility!
Prince was one of the most electrifying live performers in music history, famous for his unique voice and soaring falsetto, his razor-sharp dance moves, his high-energy and charisma onstage and his theatrical flair. He began touring in 1979–80 and embarked on dozens of major tours over his career, including the groundbreaking Purple Rain Tour (1984–85), the ambitious Lovesexy Tour (1988–89), the stripped-down Nude Tour (1990), and later outings like the Musicology Live 2004ever Tour and 21 Nights in London (2007). Backed by bands like The Revolution and the New Power Generation, he played over 1,000 concerts, often delivering extended sets and surprise aftershows, while maintaining a reputation for perfectionism in sound and production. His final tour, Piano & A Microphone (2016), offered intimate solo performances shortly before his death. His legendary 2007 Super Bowl halftime show is considered by many as the greatest ever!
Prince was a dedicated but very private philanthropist, and his donations were only made public after his death. He rarely sought public credit, often donating anonymously or insisting his name not be attached. In the mid-1990s, he and his then-wife Mayte Garcia founded 'Love 4 One Another', a nonprofit organisation that donated millions to youth education, music and arts programs, underprivileged communities, and social services across the U.S. He quietly supported causes like Yes We Code (tech education for minority youth), the Harlem Children’s Zone, Green For All, civil rights, and various local shelters and schools. The PRN Alumni Foundation continues this legacy through youth arts, tech, and community initiatives.
