After reading and following a recipe for making sandwiches last week, we are looking forward to the children writing their own recipes for tropical fruit salad this week. All inspired by reading Handa's Surprise.

Our sounds for this week are: x, th, ch, qu and ng. We will be reading Snow Bears by Martin Waddell and learning about freezing and melting and Arctic animals. Today we made fake snow and explored the texture while making mountains.
We were excited to welcome the children back to school today. Our sounds this week are j, v, w, y and z. We are reading 'Lighting a Lamp' and learning about the traditions followed during Diwali.

I can't believe we're getting so close to the end of the year. We've all learned so much. Next week we look forward to Sports Day and our Fabulous Finish. In class we're reading 'Superheroes Don't Get Scared Or Do They?' to support the children transition to their new classes.
In class next week we are reading 'There's a Superhero in Your Book' and designing and making our own superhero capes which will focus on our own superhero learning powers to enable us to transition to Year 1 with confidence.
On Tuesday it's move up day and the children will spend a day with their new teacher. Please support them positively during this exciting but daunting time.
Next week we continue reading TRex on Tour. We'll be making our own fossils. We will be welcoming children from Windmill Preschool who will be joining us in September on Wednesday afternoon to play parachute games on the field. It will be lovely for us all to play together.
We had a great day at Dino Land this week. The children were so well behaved. Next week we are reading 'Dear Dinosaur: T-Rex on Tour', we'll be junk modelling our own design-o-saurs and matching dinosaur sentences to pictures. More learning too which won't fit in a tweet!
Happy Platinum Jubilee! I hope you're enjoying yourselves. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone back at school on Monday. Our final half term is themed around dinosaurs and superheroes. We'll start by reading 'The Dinosaur That Pooped a Planet'!
