⛈️ A few storms remain possible through sunset — a couple cells south of DC. have shown strong to severe characteristics.

Tonight: Storms try to end by 8 p.m., then skies slowly clear. Muggy lows near 70 to mid-70s.

Sunday: A break from the downpours and some humidity relief — dew points dipping into the 60s. Partly to mostly sunny, highs near 90 to mid-90s. Most stay dry, though a pop-up storm possible mainly south of DC.

Dulles reached 99 while BWI/Baltimore hit 102 as well. Both also records.

Simply staggering snowfall totals in the Northeast and northern Mid-Atlantic; more than THREE FEET in Rhode Island and Bristol County, Massachusetts. My parents reported 30+ inches in South Plymouth; this is the biggest snowstorm in southeast New England since January 20-23, 2005.

This is what I'd consider a once in 20 or once in 25 year event for the region.

Most of Long Island saw 24 to 30+ inches.

As we approach midnight, @flightaware reports a total of 158 cancellations either to or from DCA Friday along with 365 delays, many of which were hours long.
BWI & Dulles did not have the same staffing problems and only saw 22 cancellations each.

A LOT of folks will see vibrant sunsets tonight due to wildfire smoke at the mid levels of the atmosphere.

This is rather crazy; Tyson's Corner recorded 0.55 inches of rain in 5 minutes between 5:35 and 5:40 p.m.

That's an equivalent rainfall rate of 6.6 inches per hour – albeit briefly.
