Nigeria’s leaders are unbelievably lucky.
They govern a country where millions of young people claim they want change, yet most won’t do the bare minimum required to make it happen.
Walk up to 100 Nigerian youths today and ask a simple question: “Do you have your PVC?” I’m willing to bet the vast majority will say NO.
But somehow, every election cycle, everyone suddenly becomes a political analyst on social media.
“We want change.” “Our votes don’t count.” “The system is rigged.”
Maybe. Maybe not.
But if you don’t even have a PVC, then you haven’t earned the right to complain about the outcome.
You can’t refuse to participate and then act surprised when nothing changes.
The truth is uncomfortable: many Nigerians are not powerless, we’re just politically lazy. We want the benefits of change without the inconvenience of action.
Before blaming politicians, ask yourself: Do you have your PVC? Did you register? Did you vote?
If the answer is no, then you’re part of the problem too.
Get your PVC. Vote. Then hold leaders accountable.
Stop tweeting for change. Start participating in it.
