Apple dropping watchOS support for Series 6, 7, 8, Ultra 1, & SE 2 makes total sense tech-wise.
All used the S6-S8 architecture, based on the ancient iPhone 11 (A13) efficiency cores. They couldn't even run true 64-bit pointers, relying on a compromised 32-bit memory hack (arm64_32) to save RAM. It was a massive bottleneck.
But the user frustration is 100% valid. Dropping support for an $800 Ultra after barely 3 years is a brutal look. 🧵
