Spain’s midfield in high-risk games doesn’t include Pedri.
Fabián/Merino #8/SS hybrid
Zubimendi/Gavi the most consistent runners & main backline helpers
Rodri the best positional dueler & passer
Pedri is especially useful in normal 4-3-3 (not the case) or vs beatable teams.
I went to a company in Epe to pick up some glass we had sent for tempering. I was with a Sienna driver, and after loading the glass, we left the premises. At the junction, we paid the usual Omo Onile levy and continued our journey back to VGC.
Less than five minutes later, we had a flat tire.
There was no vulcanizer nearby, so the driver trekked off to find one while I stayed behind with the vehicle. One by one, some guys started showing up around the car. At first, they were friendly, asking if I needed help locating a vulcanizer. I told them the driver had already gone to get one.
Before I knew it, about eight of them had surrounded the vehicle.
When the driver eventually returned with a vulcanizer, they refused to let him work unless either the driver or I “pressed money” for them. The argument went on for about five minutes, and at one point, one of them picked up a stone and threatened to smash the glass we were transporting if we didn’t pay.
I told the driver, “I’ll give them the 5k. Let’s just leave this place.”
The driver pulled me aside and told me to act like I didn’t have cash and couldn’t make a transfer. His plan was simple, tell them we needed to find a POS first. He had already looked around and knew there wasn’t one nearby.
Once I agreed to pay, they suddenly became cooperative. They allowed the vulcanizer to fix the tire, and one of them even helped make the job easier.
As soon as the tire was fixed, one of the guys volunteered to follow us to the next junction so I could withdraw money from a POS and give him the 5k.
The moment he got into the vehicle, the driver took off.
He didn’t stop driving until we were almost at Shoprite Sangotedo. Then he pulled over and calmly asked the guy to come down.
Throughout the journey, the guy had been furious, raining curses on the driver and threatening all sorts. But the moment he stepped out of the vehicle, all that toughness disappeared. Away from his friends and their numbers, he suddenly became very calm.
He walked over to my window and said,
“Senior man, but why this driver dey do like this na?”
Then he added,
“Abi God wan punish am.”
The driver got back into the car, and we drove off, leaving him there.
On the rest of the journey, the driver spent almost the entire time talking about how much he disliked dealing with Lagos agberos. He explained how they had made his job unbearable over the years. According to him, a driver can negotiate a profitable haul, only to spend nearly half the money settling different groups of lazy people standing by the roadside demanding payment.
The whole experience was fun because these guys ain't strong one bit, their advantage is their numbers! Make one of them one-on-one and they will mellow down😂
