I'm an NHS mental health doctor. I was a mental health patient. When I was unwell I felt like ending it all. But it was a mental health nurse who helped to save me. Make no mistake, mental health nurses are lifesavers like physical health nurses & deserve the same recognition.

The trust I work in has a massive drive for recruitment of international nurses currently, and this being successful has had a hugely positive impact on safe staffing and in turn patient care. There have been B5 and B6 nursing posts out which have had not a SINGLE applicant 1/2
1 in 9 nurses (40,000) left the NHS last year. There is a massive recruitment and retention crisis which has an impact on patient safety. Foreign nurses aren't the problem. Poor pay and conditions are.
We are witnessing the unravelling of one of the biggest public health scandals of all time and yet still the vast majority of our politicians and media are remaining complicit by their silence. They are cowards. Shame on all of them.
