It took me a while to translate all of this, and I know it’s very long, but I really think it’s important to listen to them when they open up about things like this.
During his Weverse live, Taeyang spoke very honestly about concert production, ticket prices and the kind of shows he dreams of putting on. As the group’s stage director, it’s really fascinating to see how he approaches his work and just how much thought and care he puts into every little detail.
☀️ I watched AKMU’s concert. I think I watched it on the actual day of the concert, but I wasn’t there in person. I watched a video of it. The stage set was really beautiful. And honestly, that’s exactly the kind of concert I want to put on myself. International artists do shows like that quite often. Personally, I think concert culture in Korea still has a lot of room for improvement, whereas overseas it’s much more common to build those kinds of elaborate stage sets. The thing is, since I’m involved in putting on concerts myself, I have a pretty good idea of how much these things cost. Do you happen to know how much tickets for AKMU’s concert were? I’m genuinely asking because I don’t know. 160,000 won? 180,000? 150,000? 170,000? Which one is it? 160,000 won? Well, if the tickets were 160,000 won, let me tell you something based on what I know. With a concert like that, at that price, there really wouldn’t have been any profit left. The artists basically put on a show that didn’t make any money. And these days, 160,000 won is actually considered relatively cheap for a concert ticket. Speaking of concert ticket prices, there’s something I’ve wanted to talk about for a long time. And yes, it’s true. They’re incredibly expensive. I absolutely understand that. When I was in high school, I would’ve had to pay 110,000 won to go to a concert, because that was how much tickets cost back then. But that was so much money! I mean, where is a high school student supposed to get 110,000 won? That’s a huge amount of money, seriously. So I completely understand the audience’s perspective. But now that I’m actually involved in putting concerts together, I inevitably have to consider the costs too. At the end of the day, everything in this world revolves around money. And I’m genuinely someone who hates constantly talking about money. But the reality is that putting on a concert costs money. Even if I just wanted to add a single pillar of fire to the stage, that would cost money too. Everything costs money. And ultimately, a company exists to make money, right? So sometimes opinions might not align. As artists, we just want to put on an incredible show, something really spectacular. But a company still has to make a profit, so we have to find a middle ground between those two things. And I can say with absolute confidence that we really do make a lot of compromises. I can genuinely say that. Obviously, I can’t talk about the exact figures, but this is something I can say with complete confidence. We’re really the type of group that works hard to reach compromises. We want to put on concerts like that too. We want to build those kinds of elaborate stage sets, and honestly, I’d be fine with not making any profit at all. I see it as an investment. Because just the fact that we put on a show like that would get people talking about us, and we’d have created an incredible concert that would go down in history. But like I said, a company is a business, and a business has to make money. So every single expense has to be carefully considered. When I work on a concert, obviously I don’t do everything by myself. We have a concert production team, so we discuss everything together and try to work out every little detail. And when you start going through all those calculations, you realize just how difficult it actually is to put on a concert in Korea under the current conditions.

*MOST* of the things theo told me during the fansign 😭:
1. he said that he *really* likes this album and that it’s his favorite album yet that piwon has released. He’s very excited for it. (biggest point to me bc he hasn’t said this in a while & makes me think it’s his style 👀 & that he finally has more lines outside of the prechorus 🙏🏼)
2. that SPECIFICALLY international pieces will really love this album and he doubled down on this point 👀
3. thinks this album “is the one” for p1harmony and that he thinks it will be the one to get more attention from the general public !!! (this interests me quite a bit bc I don’t recall theo saying something like this before..? I could be wrong tho)
4. confirmed the album does come out in oct & that’s when he realized he was spilling too much so told me to keep that a secret , but it’s already out so 😭😭
so take this how u wish given all the info we have 😇
