Back in november of 2021, one of the artists for bionicle, Andrew Ellis, shared some concept art that portrayed a very different approach for 2008. This one seemed to take a "Greek mythology" approach, hence the name of the pitch, "mythic".
Christian faber, the lead concept artist for bionicle has shared video recordings dating back to 1999 of really early bionicle prototypes, known as "voodoo heads"
These ones in particular may have been predecessors to the toa, given their color scheme.
Last but not least is an early package for the main hero voodoohead, it's very similar to the 2001 packaging for the toa.
What's even more interesting is that there's a unshown green voodoohead on the front as well as another on the back, possibly something we have yet to see.

And here's the "witch doctor", an early predecessor to the villain of bionicle, makuta.
Surprisingly enough, it appears that he moves around via remote control. It also appears that the ball on chain weapon he has spins around as he walks. Really cool stuff if you ask me.
And Here some early designs for the 2001 rahi, while the first one appears to be an early Muaka, the second appears to be a mixture between the Manas and the tarakava, given the tread feet and the punching hands.
Fact #1: bionicle had a run for at least 10 years before being retired 2010. It would eventually have a short lived revival in 2015, before ending in 2016.
