As president of the African National Congress (ANC), Cyril Ramaphosa is nominally in charge of what could be the largest criminal syndicate in the history of South Africa, Under the custodianship of the ANC regime, billions upon billions of Tax-payers money, destined to improve the lives of citizens, has been stolen and embezzled.

But, people seem to forget, or are ignorant of the fact, that no president in post-apartheid South Africa had the autonomy to make any decisions on their own. Those who try, will be removed. In reality, the power in South Africa is vested in the members of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the ANC – dictating to Parliament and the President. This means that all South African policy is controlled by an 80-strong cabal ostensibly “elected” by ANC members. It has been clearly demonstrated, over and over again, by the fact the interests of the ANC will always be served to the detriment of South Africa and it’s citizens.

Over the past three decades, the ANC single-handedly destroyed South Africa, its fiscus, its civil service, its health care, its education system, its infrastructure, its rule of law, its international reputation, its economy and its people.

Amazon Web Services runs a South Africa programme that bars any firm with a white shareholder.

That is not a rumour. It is written into the eligibility rules.

The AWS Equity Equivalent Investment Programme, launched in 2019 as part of a R365 million commitment, is an 18-to-24-month accelerator for small software and cloud businesses.

Applicants must be 100% Black-owned under the ICT B-BBEE codes, hold a Level 1 certificate, and keep founder equity free of debt for the contract term. “Black people,” in this legal sense, means African, Coloured and Indian South African citizens.

A single white owner disqualifies the company. Amazon presents the scheme as diversity and inclusion. The rules do the opposite of what those words usually mean: they sort entrepreneurs by race and shut one group out.

The programme sits inside South Africa’s B-BBEE framework. Multinationals that will not sell local equity can instead fund approved “equity equivalent” projects and still score transformation points.

The policy has a history: it was designed after apartheid to widen ownership that the old order had closed. That history does not convert a racial gate into a non-racial one.

A rule that says “no whites” is still a racial rule, whether the target is a majority or a minority, whether the motive is redress or preference.

If racial discrimination is wrong when it keeps Black South Africans out of a market, it is wrong when it keeps White South Africans out of a market. The colour of the person excluded does not change the nature of the act. A company can train, fund and mentor anyone without first checking the race of every shareholder. Choosing not to do that is a choice, not a law of nature.

Diversity that requires racial purity of ownership is exclusion with better branding. Inclusion that stops at the colour line is not inclusion. The principle is simple and it does not bend with the politics of the moment: people should not be locked out of opportunity because of their race.

That holds when the excluded group is Black. It holds when the excluded group is White.

It holds when a global firm writes the rule and calls it progress.

When the ANC assumed power in 1994, they inherited the most sophisticated economic engine on the African continent.

They were handed a deep-water port network, a highly complex rail system that efficiently moved freight from the interior to the coast, an integrated national power grid that generated some of the cheapest electricity in the world, and a professional, rule-bound civil service.

That system possessed underlying engineering and administrative principles that were globally competitive.

The historical task of the new government was simple: maintain the existing engineering standards, scale the capacity to include the black majority, and expand the productive tax base.

Instead, the ANC executed a 30 year masterclass in structural vandalism.

They introduced cadre deployment, incompetence, corruption, and political impunity, systematically replacing competent engineers, financial auditors, and institutional administrators with politically loyal party hacks.

The results are not ideological; they are physical.

It takes centuries of capital accumulation, spatial planning, and disciplined maintenance to build an interconnected civilization, but it takes only a few decades of deliberate neglect to destroy it.

The ultimate tragedy is that the liberation movement successfully decoupled its survival from the material reality of the country.

The ANC did not "decolonize" South Africa; they simply consumed its foundational capital.

They proved that an elite equipped with nothing but liberation slogans and an insatiable appetite for state contracts can liquidate 300 years of built infrastructure in just three decades, leaving the next generation to inherit a broken, unmanageable corpse.
