In past years @Mizzou@MizzouAlumni Homecoming Parade invited 3 organizational entry types: student, community, and political. This year “political” orgs are excluded & new guidelines stipulate the parade “is not a venue for protests.” Why these changes this year? #StillConcerned

As we approach the 10-year anniversary of #ConcernedStudent1950, @Mizzou administration is still in full anti-Black racism mode as they again prevent @MizzouLBC from hosting an event.
Now more than 500 signatures on the list, including over half of the US @AAUniversities. When will (did) it become embarrassing for @Mizzou that the @umsystem president has not signed? https://t.co/SRgLY1WZrC
When will the @umsystem president add his name to this list to speak up for @Mizzou and for the good that universities and colleges do for the country? https://t.co/SRgLY1WZrC
As a reminder, in July the @MUChancellor wrote "in striving for an inclusive university, we must not exclude (or give impressions that we are excluding) individuals with different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives.” https://t.co/Zdg7CKZXD9
Mizzou Students for Justice in Palestine, an official @Mizzou student organization, report that the @MUChancellor is excluding them from the @MU_Homecoming parade. https://t.co/1TBvLy9aNo
In response to @MUBlackStudies requests, @MUChancellor doubles down: “The decision to change the name of the ‘Welcome Black Barbeque’ was because it unintentionally conveyed an impression that some members of our campus community were not welcomed at this event."
4. Report progress on #3 in state of the university report
5. Hire more faculty to increase Black Studies research, teaching, & outreach to help Missouri’s Black population
5 requests from @MUBlackStudies in Sept 4 letter to @MUChancellor re: Welcome Black BBQ name change:
1. Issue public apology for suggesting “Black” implies exclusion
2. Reopen dialogue about BBQ name for more input from faculty, staff, & students…
3. Implement mechanism for consulting with Black Studies before issuing public statements on identity matters affecting Black communities, ensuring input from relevant departments & organizations to uphold shared governance principles…
In the name of “inclusivity,” the @MizzouLBC was (again) asked to change the name of its annual Welcome Black BBQ. As a predominantly white institution (PWI), who is @Mizzou afraid is being excluded? https://t.co/dx4866Podu
