**Is It Time for Nigeria to Consider a PAYE Holiday?**
In this period of economic hardship and rising cost of living, I believe it is time for the Federal Government to consider a temporary PAYE holiday or a significant reduction in PAYE for Nigerian workers.
Therefore, a targeted reduction for low- and middle-income earners may be a more practical approach than a blanket suspension.
**Economic reforms should not only focus on government revenue; they should also improve the living conditions of ordinary Nigerians.**
A temporary PAYE holiday of three to six months could provide some relief, putting more money directly into workers' pockets to support their families, reduce debt and improve their purchasing power.
I understand that government needs tax revenue to fund public services.
Food, transportation, rent, electricity, school fees and other basic necessities continue to put pressure on household incomes. For many salary earners, their take-home pay is no longer enough to comfortably meet their monthly obligations.
