Mind you they had to drag ALL of that equipment up to an actual cave and find a way to position everything correctly. It was a 60-foot contraption. Other directors would have just used a green screen or cgi rather than film on location with practical effects. No one in the industry is doing it like Nolan.
Do the ends justify the means? If you win the war and lose yourself, what did you gain?
Sir Christopher Johnathon James Nolan, to call you a genius I would be downplaying your greatness
The Troy scene, where Odysseus recounts to Penelope the atrocities committed in defiance of Zeus' law, stands as one of the most powerful in the film. The weight of his guilt, the devastation of war, and the consequences of human arrogance converge in a performance that feels both deeply personal and mythic. Very few films have ever reached the cinematic heights achieved in that sequence!!!! I was in my seat tearing up!!!!
Nolan's framing of "Zeus' law" as the institutional foundation of a functional society, and what happens when that foundation is broken by men with an insatiable lust for power, wasn't lost on me.
Fitting for the time we are in.
Like of course he makes this movie following Oppenheimer. When Odysseus was retelling the story to Penelope, I was like him and Oppenheimer are brothers! Men who brought an end to a war but at the cost of their humanity and not actually leaving the world better.
ODYSSEY SPOILERS
