Arsenal prepared to make a formal bid to Newcastle for Bruno Guimaraes after seeing a verbal offer via intermediaries of around £55m turned down. Newcastle insist they don’t wish to sell, but direct club-to-club contact is now anticipated.

As reported yesterday, Alex Scott, Ayyoub Bouaddi and Sandro Tonali other names on the radar. Matheus Fernandes has also been looked at, but Spurs and Manchester United more advanced as it stands.

Overlap with other Premier League clubs for each target. #MCFC want another midfielder post Elliot Anderson.

Spurs also want to sign two midfielders.

Manchester United will add at least one more midfielder.

And Chelsea and Liverpool could also explore a central midfield reinforcement.

The proposal, which was communicated to Newcastle through intermediaries, was worth less than £60million and has been rebuffed by the north east club.

No contact with Newcastle as of Thursday evening, nor do #NUFC wish to sell.

#AFC also one of the clubs considering Alex Scott, along with Manchester United and Spurs. Latter could advance if they fail to land Mateus Fernandes/Sandro Tonali.

1. Saya menafikan sekeras-kerasnya dakwaan Datuk Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi bahawa saya pernah memaklumkan kepadanya kononnya pihak Istana telah “mengarahkan” pembubaran Dewan Negeri Johor.

2. Apa yang saya jelaskan ialah pembubaran tersebut dibuat setelah mendapat titah perkenan DYAM Tunku Mahkota Ismail, Pemangku Sultan Johor, selaras dengan Fasal 23, Bahagian Kedua Undang-Undang Tubuh Kerajaan Johor 1895.

3. Menteri Besar tidak boleh membubarkan Dewan Negeri Johor sesuka hati. Pembubaran perlu melalui proses yang ditetapkan oleh Undang-Undang Tubuh Kerajaan Johor dan hanya berkuat kuasa setelah mendapat perkenan.

4. Saya telah mengadap dan mempersembahkan perkara tersebut. Selepas mendapat perkenan, saya mengumumkan pembubaran Dewan Negeri Johor kepada rakyat secara terbuka. Mendapat titah perkenan ialah satu proses perlembagaan dan sama sekali tidak bermaksud menerima arahan atau campur tangan politik.

5. Justeru, amat tidak bertanggungjawab untuk beliau kini memutarbelitkan proses perlembagaan yang sah sehingga mewujudkan persepsi kononnya Institusi Diraja mencampuri urusan dan keputusan politik UMNO Johor.

6. Beliau berhak meninggalkan UMNO dan berbeza pandangan dengan kepimpinan parti. Namun, kenyataan sedemikian amat serius dan berpotensi menyentuh sensitiviti 3R, khususnya berkaitan Institusi Diraja, selain boleh menjejaskan keharmonian serta ketenteraman awam.

7. Sehubungan itu, UMNO Johor akan membuat laporan polis bagi membolehkan siasatan dan tindakan lanjut dijalankan oleh pihak berkuasa.

8. Saya menyeru semua pihak supaya menghormati Institusi Diraja, mematuhi Perlembagaan dan Undang-Undang Tubuh Kerajaan Johor serta tidak memperalatkan institusi tersebut dalam pertelingkahan politik.
