I personally am unsure of the endpoint thing because I don't have the experience on that side of things. That is just what has been said/explained. I get your view on the pricing, but at the end of the day there are evil people who will do what it takes to scam and take the time to exploit younger children or someone not being entirely cautious.
1/2. This is my last take on the Hazem/PLS DONATE Situation, and then I am moving on from talking about it. I just need to express my side on comments being made. All of these statements are my own personal opinion, and you're entitled to your own. This is long, so read it or don't. #plsdonate
"Game passes still exist!"
• Yes, game passes still exist, but are no longer functional in crossed games. That's where PD shined. It made it so convenient and super easy to donate multiple people at a time (multiple fans, madnesses, etc), or even one person, with only having to simply summon a player or have them join your server. It is highly inconvenient to have to either go to a players profile and go through all of their game passes , go to their profile, then their game and find the game passes , or trust individual game pass links being sent on ANY social platform as it's way too easy to mask and create a malicious link.
"Use group funds!"
• This is valid , however , not everyone has a group that brings in earned funds , as a high % of the PD community bought their ROBUX to give out, including myself, or earned them from trading. Also, not everyone enjoys being in groups, depositing your own funds that you buy into a group is just pointless.
"The API isn't even bad!"
• I see the vision of the system , and that vision is not bad. However, It is a system driven by FORCING you to pay $4.99+ a month for ROBLOX Plus to donate. The limits are entirely way too low, especially for commission payouts of any sort. R$5,000/day or R$10,000/month is just simply not high enough. I doubt we see a day where they raise this within anything close to what you could do with PD. Not to mention the age limitation behind it. It's not entirely a bad idea, but having to have parental permission to accept/send a low amount of ROBUX is unnecessary in my opinion. Also, how many parents actually have a parental account set up? This also just creates another excuse to have to verify your age/ID, but this seems like it's starting to become an inevitable thing anyway. Also, it's boring and unappealing.
"They're choosing to shut it down. They can switch to clothing."
• Each piece of clothing published to ROBLOX's platform will cost R$10, and soon you will be forced to have a Plus subscription to even do so. Clothing also creates possible exploitations and safety precautions, and does not entirely work properly with game mechanics. Why do you think they switched from clothing to gamepasses in the first place?
"Leaderboard/Publicity with donations is the only reason you care."
• This statement could be true for some people in a realistic sense. However, it was and never has been about publicity for a lot of the community. The game itself was interactive and fun. The graphics and sound affects were appealing. It became a hangout place simply for the aesthetics, and getting to watch LIVE donations happen at any rate was probably one of the coolest parts. The integration of the nuke/blimp/smite/starfall , or even watching the "You donated/___ donated you" effect on smaller donations was fulfilling and FUN. The entire game made it fun and enjoyable to give ROBUX to players, and made it possible on such a large scale. I have met some of my greatest friends on the game by just hanging out and enjoying the environment. To those who say, "only the rich get richer anyway," there were millions of players over the course of the game's time. Standing AFK , or only begging won't or hardly does get you anywhere, because that is a poor lack of character. Most players who succeeded did so slightly because of luck, but also because they joined and respected the community and environment of the game. They created friendships amongst each other and various other players and became interactive. If a friend and someone you don't know come up to you at the same time when you have $5 available and say, "Hey, can you give me money?" ...who would you give it to?
"Even if I add clothing back, their endpoints are broken as hell so we can't prevent fake donations" - Hazem himself. On top of that, there is supposedly something to do with when a shirt is updated & it not correctly corresponding fully in the game like what passes show, so if someone isn't paying attention after clicking a pass and a price is updated, it could be detrimental leading to scams.
2/2. "Hazem was just a middleman getting rich, he deserves this!"
• Hazem (and his developers) made this project. This was Hazem's career. This team built the game from the ground up, made the idea of giving ROBUX or donating possible, and spent 4 years being present in this project whether it was to join the community, host/join events and giveaways, or fix the game for players. How many developers do you personally know who would have given out over 1 BILLION ROBUX back to the community supporting their game? That is equivalent to $3,800,000-$5,400,000 that he could have taken himself. He spent time to give back to everyone - developers , his game audience , regular players , and small to large streamers. To think he is not grateful doesn't make any sense to me. He has expressed and shown his gratitude (all while being extremely humble) several times. Do you seriously think any percentage of what ROBLOX earns from starting this API system is going to go back into the community at all? The argument that Hazem needs to or can just move on and make another project is senseless. What if you developed a game or business and continued working on it for 4 years that became as successful as Pls Donate, and suddenly it just gets shut down with little to no notice? To say you wouldn't be upset or have the same reaction/feelings is simply lying to yourself. He is obviously fighting for his business , and you'd do the same. While some things could stay private and not be said publicly or as harshly, can you genuinely blame him for "irrationality" right now? He knows right now there is nothing he can do. It's simply ROBLOX's inconsideration, lack of communication, and the neglecting to work with him in a way that ensures his game can still function properly that he is upset about.
Roblox is testing accessories locked behind age verification these items are not buyable until the user completes a face or ID Check to verify their age.
Could 13+ items be making a return?
@tallcowyt@balnkets the true issues with the new api is the fact that it is buggy & has so many limitations. ie. roblox plus , the age settings where you have to have parental consent to claim or receive robux if you're under a certain age, the list goes on. that's my take but i get your take too.
@tallcowyt@balnkets and going back to what you said, game passes do still exist so yes that can be argued that it still gets the job done - but a big part of pls donate/similar games was the appeal, effects, and fun behind buying said game passes. the api isn't the problem, it's the limit.
the thing about this is payouts to devs or other commission based projects to others , especially if a large sum was discussed and decided if that makes sense. some people including myself dont have a group that brings in funds etc , especially smaller devs - thats where my error is with the limit now.
A final goodbye from the community. This game and all of the people surrounding it will forever hold a dear place in my heart. @haz3m_ thank you for everything. #PlsDonate
i genuinely still don't understand how 500 "highly engaged" age 16+ players (who have spent MONEY) contributes to what rating a game should be therefore unlocking it to younger audiences. #roblox
