This is wild! Last week it was a Cybertruck split in half, now the same has happened to a Model X in Issaquah, Washington.

From a witness - “Somehow the Tesla made contact with another vehicle, veered off into the ditch. The sheer weight, and velocity of the Tesla as it crashed in the ditch made the vehicle break into two parts.

Jacopo Cardillo'nun 2022 yılında yaptığı bu heykel, modern dünyada özellikle de kentleşme, savaşlar, yoksulluk ve sosyal eşitsizlik nedeniyle zarar gören “masumlar”a adanmıştır.

Jago, çağdaş heykel sanatının en dikkat çekici isimlerinden biri. Eserlerinde klasik mermer işçiliği ile günümüzün sosyal ve politik eleştirilerini harmanlamasını ben de pek çok kişi gibi severek takip ediyorum.

Michelangelo’nun “non-finito” geleneğinden beslenen bir üslubu vardır; yani heykelleri bazen bilinçli olarak tamamlanmamış gibi görünür. Jogo'nun da bunu kullanması çağdaş bir Michelangelo benzetmelerine de neden oluyor. Ayrıca sanatçı Pieta gibi Michelangelo'nun ünlü eserlerini de çağdaş bir dil de tekrar ediyor.

Yani kısacası mermeri klasik geleneğin ötesinde modern bir ifade aracı olarak kullanması ve insana dair acıyı, kırılganlığı, yalnızlığı işleyen temaları ile tanınıyor.

Roma'daki Palazzo Montecitorio'da sergilenen eser, yeni doğmuş bir bebeği betimliyor. Bebek huzur içinde ve oldukça masum bir şekilde uyuyor. Sanatçı bu masum bebek imgesi üzerinden modern dünyada, özellikle de kentleşme, savaşlar, yoksulluk ve sosyal eşitsizlik nedeniyle zarar gören “masumlar”a dikkat çekiyor.

Modern toplumun göz ardı ettiği kırılganlıklar, kimsesiz çocuklar, açlık ve savaş mağduru insanlar,bu heykelin hatırlamamızı istediği önemli şeylerdir.

Ayrıca Jacobo eserin adını "Look Down / Aşağı Bak" koymuş. Jago burada, başımızı yukarı kaldırıp ihtişam ve güç odaklı bir dünyaya hayranlıkla bakmak yerine, gözden kaçırdığımız, bastığımız taşların altında ezilen, görmezden gelinen masumlara dikkat etmemizi ister.

“Aşağı bak”, görmediğimiz sokaklarda yatan evsizleri, savaşlarda ölen çocukları, yoksulluğun içindeki bebekleri, yani modern çağın “görünmeyen kurbanlarını” görmek için başımızı eğmemizi öğütler. Hem utanç hem merhamet duygusuyla bakmayı, yukarıdan hükmetmek yerine aşağıdan anlamayı talep eden güçlü bir metafordur. 🖤

Maja Chwalinska did not win Roland Garros, but she won the hearts of everyone over the last 3 weeks.

A journey that started from qualifying.

From world #114 to a new career high ranking of world #21.

The first qualifier in history to reach the Roland Garros final.

To think that in 2021, she stopped playing tennis for months due to a battle with depression and self doubt… Back then, it would’ve been nearly impossible for her to imagine herself in a Grand Slam final.

Her father worked as an electrician in the coal mines and her mother is a receptionist.

They worked tirelessly to support her dreams from the time she was little, and they uplifted her when she had to stop playing tennis to protect her mental health.

Her run in Paris reminded the world that if you work hard at your passion every day, if you have people who love you, and if you never give up on yourself, the ranking next to your name holds no meaning…

You can still make your own fairytale.

Congratulations on everything, Maja. 🥹

Naomi: “You know, I kind of realized like… I don’t know if you knew me before, but I would be very very disappointed in myself after matches like these. But I kinda realized it doesn’t matter at all. I’ve played her multiple times and sadly to say lost multiple times. The only thing I can keep doing is trying l my best. Maybe hopefully it’ll work out in my favor one day. But I can’t let myself be discouraged every time I lose to someone or win against someone. Because honestly, hitting a ball doesn’t really matter, like, on Earth, kind of.”
