This is my MotionFlashback for this year, basically a tiny “business card” I throw out into the world. I’ve been doing this every year since Ordinary Folk started the tradition back in 2019
It kind of sums up my whole year, my mindset, my habits, and all things I got obsessed
Earlier this year, I got a logo animation project at the studio and thought, why not try a bunch of different ideas?
So I ended up making all these little tests 😂
We actually went with my colleague’s version for the final animation, but I had a lot of fun exploring all the different ways the logo could move.
When I visited @multra_tokyo , I had a chat with @_heki about @cavalry__app .
Sometimes I use Cavalry to make quick references, then use AI to recreate the same parametric setup in AE so I can animate it with keyframes. Other times, I just do the whole thing in Cavalry.
This video is actually a pretty good example! For the opening, I first did some quick motion tests in Cavalry to see if the idea worked the way I wanted, then moved to AE to add some details.
People always ask me why I don't just do everything in Cavalry 🤣 Well, I guess sometimes I just can't... or it'd take way too much time to figure everything out and test things.
I'm just trying to get the job done haha.
*The original video is by Flatwhite Motion!
I supervised the animation and worked on a few shots myself.
BTS: How I Created the ZZZ Logo Animation
I used both Cinema 4D and After Effects to explore a bolder visual style for this animation.
Although it didn’t make the final cut, I had a lot of fun creating it and wanted to share the process with you.
